Syncronizer Gauge Replacement

1998 370 sundancer

Engines

454 merc, 7.4 l

1998 370 DA, replaced original syncronizer gauge, hooked up wires correctly, new gauge does not work.
Original gauge works,
Easy hook up , 2 signal wires, 1 ground, 1 power, 1 light...hard to screw up.
Any feedback appreciated.

Garmin 24 HD Radar
Garmin 546s Plotter

Engines

454 Crusaders

Double check voltage at ground and power with VOM. Double check connections on wires coming from tachometer. If still not working possible faulty gauge.

.5 volts at sig,grnd on both, power shows 12 v

0.5 volts at each sig,grnd check.
12 volts at power,grnd check

Likely faulty gauge. What was the reason to replace in the first place? Same brand?
