Engines
Cummins 450Cs, 9KW Onan Generator, 40HP Yamaha for tender.
My SMX IR is starting to give me troubles (down button fails to respond). I took the board apart and tried cleaning what I could see. No luck.

Does anyone have a good source on getting a replacement?

I don't think i am far behind you. Me its more the thermostat does not register the correct temperature therefore it isn't running when it should be. Appreciate the links.

I would think that there is an ambient temperature reset. You might just need to re-calibrate the unit to actual temperature.

There is but I'll be damned if I can actually get that done.

I find relocating the temp sensor is a tremendous help to registering correct temp. By default its mounted down low which sometimes have a 7-10 degree difference.

I relocated both of mine and then recalibrated them and they work perfect.

I found the instructions on line to change just about anything on them.

Where are they usually located and what do they look like? I definitely need to move mine. Re-calibration didn't help at all.

Same here. I recalibrated and it didn't help. I need to find where the sensors are...

I think in most cases they mount it to the front of the unit itself.

They are always mounted down low in the return. It looks like a telephone wire(flat) with a silver bulb on the end about 1.5” long. Just pull it out and and route the wire where you want it. Usually plenty of wire. Here is a pic of mine remounted on the board below the TV.

I mounted the one in the MSR under the edge of the bed.

Great, that explains it. My salon unit is under the floor which is always much colder than the rest of the boat. I'll check that out. Thank you!

I may have a spare from the last boat - I'll take a look tomorrow

Do you still need one?
I have one, brand new in the box

My salon control took a dump this weekend so I temporarily swapped it with the bridge one. A good friend is a Crusair dealer and said they are on backorder until early July so supplier stock is getting low.

FYI - they are discontinuing the white controllers.

Just replaced one of mine. Bought it here:Citimarine. Very easy replacement.Screen Shot 2020-06-02 at 5.06.18 PM.png

Ditto. +1. They make their own which works great, or they’ll rebuild yours.
Thanks for the tip to use Flight Systems. My 20 year old salon smx ii controller is on the blink so I just ordered a new one from them. I talked to the tech and he said they do not rebuild the old SMX ii controllers. He said some have sent old ones to them on the assumption they rebuilt them, and they just throw them away. The SMX ii replacements they sell are their own fabrication.

My new SMX ii from Flight Systems arrived yesterday. Old one is on left new one on right. Everything was a perfect fit. I can actually see the green indicator lights when they are on on this one. They were pretty faint on the old one.
