Official 390DA Thread

Hi i am trying to find out what the draft is on my 395da with zeus drives does anyone have it

Looking to buy a 390 with diesels... And hard top... I know there is a lot more 420 to choose from.. But its just me and my wife and really don't want the extra few ft... And I hear the 390 cruises about a knot or 2 more.... Can you tell me anything to look out for when buying? Would love to hear.. Making a big jump skipping over a few... 320 to 390... Why not.. A little nerves going into diesels,, because I don't know nothing about them... But gotta start somewhere

Finally pulled the trigger and got 390 with QSBs what a nice boat, took out my family for a 3 day cruise. One thing which is a bummer my c120 gives me data source not found message on fish finder :( What's interesting is that image in the top right corner shows boat and a fish under, meaning it's installed. c120 shows depth correctly, but when I switch to the fishfinder screen I get nothing besides the error message.
Can anyone tell me where is the DSM module on the boat ? There are troubleshooting steps with checking connectivity and LED lights etc, but I can't find the unit , please help :)

We are in the process of purchasing a 390DA and had the survey done today, found a few issues. I'm not near the boat so I can't access the boat quickly(boat is in Oklahoma/Texas, I'm in Michigan). Can someone tell me the BTU size of the salon AC unit? Also, the freezer is no-op, anyone replaced theirs? Cost?

Thank you.

You didn’t say the year of the boat you are looking at. It does make a difference. My 2005 41’ LOA has a 12,000 btu unit in the salon.

Where are you located in Michigan?

How's the starboard rudder doing... Had the survey done yesterday. The surveyor went to take the boat for a sea trial when he starting giving throttle up the boat started vibrating and he had poor steering control of the boat. He "limped" it over to hoist as he already had a hoist ready for survey haul out. They hauled it and this what they found. Apparently the Seller used the boat last weekend and got a rope around the prop, that was tied on the other end, when the rope tightened it pulled up on the bottom of the rudder, ultimately bending the rudder. Looks like it's bent on the shaft portion of the rudder, not the flat/wing portion of the rudder. What I'm hearing is you can't bend the shaft portion back, if the wing portion bent it could be bent back. Of course Sea Ray doesn't produce this rudder any more, they only used the same rudder on the 340, 360, 380, 390, 400, 410, 420 & 440, why would they, there's only thousands of these models out there. Always something... (I don't know why the image is turned, it's straight when I load it, when it loads on CSR it's turned. Very fitting as this has been how my week is going...lol)

The Pocket door to the V-Berth squeaking! Yes, I'm bad. I woke the sleeping Beauty with this squeaking door. Now before I start tearing surfaces away can anyone tell me what you have done to quiet this pocket door down?

Checking in. Our (new to us) 40 arrived last Friday. Currently hauled out for service and electronics install. Bought the boat down in Miami and drive it up. Nice day and quite a difference from our previous 340.

My trip home in the boat was 5.5 hours running around 2300 rpms. We averaged about 21mph but keep in mind I had a bad cutlass bearing, 1000 service due so we ran warm and my props were in desperate need of reconditioning. With the service, props reconditioned and some prop speed I expect to run 100 rpms more, faster speed and lower temps. That being said it was a completely different ride from a 340. We were in 2-3 seas with occasional 3-4. She ran incredibly well and comfortable. Not a lot of pitching from the bow. I really enjoyed it. The day was hot, muggy and sunny so we put on the aft cover and ran the A/C. Cooled off and it was comfortable. You'll notice on that size that the boat sits much higher than a 340 and due to the beam it feels more stable.

You are going to love it. If you have any questions send me a pm and well chat.

Don't forget the aftercoolers. l Had an 05 390 with QSB's rated at 380 hp and ran it all over Lake Michigan at 2700 rpm and 27-28 mph.
You will also find it is probably over propped. The 380's were rated at 3000 rpm and I propped it to turn 3050 which took 2 inches less pitch.
Enjoy the boat, it is a great package.

After seeing the transcoolers and heat exchangers I’m seriously thinking about a flush kit.

Did your top end speed change after you took out 2” of pitch?

I owned this boat 10 years ago so I don't remember the exact figures but there was a small loss on the top end but an increase at cruise at lower loads which is what I was after.

I have been flushing after every run since moving to Florida. The zincs last twice as long. Although I haven't had the aftrcoolers apart yet I did change a hose on the gen heat exchanger and it was clean.
