Official 370 Sundancer thread

They have 110v heating elements just like your house heater does. you have to remove power, drain it down enough to remove the heating element(s) and replace. Make sure it's getting power to the heating element before doing all that, though. Did you leave the breaker off perchance? Sometimes "warm" water is because you just ran for a while, and the water heater (note not a HOT water heater. No reason for one of those), was close enough to the power plants to soak some heat, or had a heat exchanger plumbed into the heater tank.

See if I can bring this post back to life to try to get a little better understanding. My hot water heater is out. Noticed that it’s sitting in a pool of water in the compartment. I’ve been reading up on adding a drain to the compartment through the bulkhead. That seems simple enough. But back to fixing the hot water heater... I think I’ll just replace while I’m in there. Anyone had good luck on a replacement model?

Are you sure the water is coming from the heater? Mine was leaching up through the screw holes, as my entire center foam filled sub section was saturated with water from a leaking fitting on the cockpit ice maker, spraying water behind the coaming in the cockpit into the void between the hull and the deck pan. A slow, but very effective process. If it's the water heater (because I don't heat hot water), Attwood is still making the unit at last look. Water heaters are pretty universal. Size will matter for fit, and how long you have hot water.

Deciding between a 340 and 370. Wife likes the size of the 370. To me it just adds to storage/slip costs and takes extra time to clean and wax. I do like the engine room. But there are several available in my area. So do the 370s have the same moisturizer and delamination issues in the deck as the 340s?

I own one, and have run both extensively. They handle similar, the 34 is a more "open" plan, i.e. no privacy doors or walls. They both have ample room in the engine compartment. The 370 cockpit/helm is much roomier, and I have not heard of any delam issues with a 370. In fact, the only thing missing from the 370 in my opinion is a 2nd head, but that's called a 400. I can't speak for the newer 370's. They may have euro'd it up enough to do away with the privacy features of a 95-99 model.

I don't know of the issues you speak of. My 1998 had a great survey. No moisture issues at all. There is a 340 next to me at the marina. It's a nice boat too but smaller inside obviously. No separate shower stall was a big no no for me. I don't like a wet head you gotta wipe down after every shower. My 98 has a closed off master cabin with a sliding door. The 340s around here cost a good bit more than I paid for my 370. I looked at both and prefer the 370. If you are worried get a survey. My surveyor hit my boat with a hammer on every square inch of it and used the moisture meter. He said if I didn't buy the boat he was going to.

370 all the way. The room in the head and the galley along with the privacy door to the main cabin is worth every penny. Everyone on my dock comes to my boat for the “screen porch” that keeps out the No-See-Ums and the cockpit accommodates 6 - 8 people hanging and drinking. I don’t think the 340 can do that in comfort.

Yeah. The admiral says it's a boat we can live on for a month (and coming from her, that's a big admission). And I don't know if I want 6-8 people hanging out on my boat -- I use it to social distance. :)

Unfortunately, the one I called on today has wet stringers. They are going to use the Dryboat system to fix.

Hey everyone! Long time lurker first time poster. Starting my sixth season with my 370 and just made the decision that I am going to put more money into sprucing her up instead of moving to a newer boat. So I am excited to have you guys follow along in my planned upgrades!
for sure keep us posted....replaced a bunch of stuff myself so far

As you have heard a hundred times in this post alone, just contact a local canvas company and be done with it!

Unfortunately I do not have the time to look thru a 163 pages for pertinent info when a “search” produces generic “maybe or maybe not” answers and is archaic. Silly me to think a specific question asked and answered by someone who just went thru the same issue would be time saving. But next time i will hit the easy button.

Anybody have throttles that are uneven? My throttles are in the same position and are a balanced rpm at idle all the way down but as I start to advance them the starboard throttle lever is quite a bit ahead of the port lever to maintain the same rpm by 3200 rpm. Is that adjustable?
