I'm looking to put a davit on my 410 and the swim platform is 11'7" long and 36" wide. My transom sticks out about 10" past each side of the platform. I'd like to hold my Highfield 360 dinghy which is 11'10" long and 5'8" wide. The weight is around 360lbs. What is everyone else using for this? My Swim ladder is right in the center of the platform. I understand I won't be able to use it with the dinghy on the back but when the dinghy is gone I'd like to still be able to use it. I've looked at the Hurley H30 but it looks very tight on this platform.

That is a heavy dinghy. A friend of mine had great results using a basic David system with a winch mounted in the aft compartment. $80 from harbor freight. The cable feeds out the hawse pipe attaches to the side of the dinghy and Bobs your uncle. Very little effort. He boats in salt water and the winch has lasted three seasons thus far.

Bob's your uncle!

Do you remember what kind of davit it was or who manufactured it?

If I'm picturing this correctly he has a standard weaver davit (or snap davits). I have the same. You hook the dingy to the aft edge of the platform and lift from the outer edge of the dinghy.

Doing it this way requires either a small motor you can remove every time or a motor swivel. Both doable. I have a trusty 3.5hp that I throw around pretty easily.

You can see the davits here, not fully hooked up. And an embarrassing adhesive job. :(

This is how I secure the dinghy when I need to use the platform.

I'm following you. I have a 25 horse Suzuki on this, not practical to remove everytime.

They make transom mounts that swing the outboard with the dinghy for applications like this. I have no direct experience with them...

Not specifically similar to the picture below that I copied off the internet. However they are removable. He has a heavy rib with a 20 hp four stroke

Riptide, I'm looking at davits similiar to that. I think my whole setup is about 360lbs, do you have any idea how hard it is to pull the dinghy up onto that? I'm wondering if I could use a ratchet strap hooked to a transom cleat to help out. That setup seems like the best option I've seen but I don't know anyone with one. I've got friends who have the Hurley H30 but my platform isn't big enough for that.

I have a 1997 400 DA. I have a 10’ rib with 15Hp mercury. Total weight about 250 lbs. it is a two person job. My wife at the bow. Me at the stern. It’s not easy. It would be if I got off my butt and installed the winch I bought. Also, my Davits are homemade and don’t have rollers. My friends davits have rollers. I think they are “trick davits”. Personally I think 360lbs is a lot. Straps might help but they are very limited on how far you can ratchet. A better option might be a small block and tackle setup like “blow boats” use.

I have a homemade system similar to the one Riptide posted. I use a pulley system for mine. I hook a dock line on my transoms cleat, then through a pulley I hook on the dinghy, then back through a pulley I hook to the same cleat, then I pull on the end of the line to pull the dinghy up onto the davits. I attach this setup on both ends of the dinghy. The wife does the bow (light end) and I do the motor end (heavy end). My setup is probably a little over 200 pounds and we can do it pretty easy, but I don't think we could pull something as heavy as yours without better davits. Perhaps with the rollers on them. I hope I explained this good enough to understand. Here are a few pictures of mine and how it sits. Sorry don't have any pics of the pulley system.
