I have 2003 Sea Ray 26da. I can move the throttle to forward and reverse without pushing the button. Is this something that needs to be fixed? Thanks in advance for any direction.

That is something that should be addressed.

It prevents the shifter from accidentally being knocked into gear similar to you having to depress the brake in a car to shift.

What button? Normal if your talking about the throttle only button on the side by the pivot point

Yes the button on the top left of the throttle. It does not need to be pressed to move the throttle to forward and reverse

Does sound like a lock-out. Many binnacles don't even have one. If it bother you, fix it..

Top left?

You should have 3 controls on the lever.

At the hinge point a square one that may say “throttle only “, one small switch on the left end (usually) of the grip for the trim and a longer, trigger like one on the bottom of the T handle.

That last one gets pulled up to allow shifting in and out of gear.

Whattaya got?

Awe I see your little feelings were hurt.

Dude , you want to call it a day? Or start pages of back and forth insults like before? Your call.

That depends. I can play nice in the sandbox. Can you?

You seem to be very insecure. Blaming others for things is indicative of a lack of higher learning and maturity.

Hey dipshit, you hyjack the guys thread to insult me. That's a def. sign of high intelligence right?

Back off this guys thread, since you have nothing to add. Start a new 1 with me as the subject line. Then you can tell me how stupid I am. Seem reasonable?? You be 1 bored amigo

My SeaRay has a conventional side mount with a throttle only button in the middle and a lockout on the end of the handle.

OTOH, the Binnacle mount on my Whaler has no lockout button, as you alluded to. It goes directly from F to R and visa versa with only a small detent. And, I DO hate it.

However, it does appear to be designed that way, so there is nothing to "fix". Short of replacing it with a different style unit, is there some way to "modify" it?

TIA...
