I have a 1994 440 Sundancer, without a macerator. Every black water schematic I have seen for this boat, has a thru hull fitting for black water, yet I can't find one on this boat. The boat is well equipped, option wise, so it seems odd there was no macerator ordered. I'm thinking over the years something changed, for some reason, and it doesn't exist any longer, but the thru hull would. It's in the water now, so I can't ID it that way. Does anyone out in Club Sea Ray land have a 94' 440 dancer, they can take a pix of where their thru hull for black water is? Thanks in advance.

It is possible that it was not equipped, and if not, no thru-hull would have been made. That's the way mine was.

Best of luck and welcome to CSR!

Jim, yes possible it wasn't equipped, but per manual, every option had a thru hull for one reason or another. There are eight different plumbing schematics for black water waste management, none of which show no thru hull. Just seems odd, that this boat had all these options installed, but no way to evac, other than pump out from deck flange.

Was it an inland boat? It would have not had black water discharge if so. Again, mine was the same way... shows all the pluming in the schematics but no thru-hull or macerate pump.

Most likely, the macerator was an option. You can look through the archives on SR's website to see a list of standard and optional equipment for your boat.

IF your boat originally had the option, but someone removed the macerator, it's unlikely they removed the thru-hull and glassed the hole in. In this case, there would still be a seacock that would be visible and accessible in the bilge. If you don't find an unused seacock, there's your answer.

Follow the hose from the bottom of the tank, it would split and go to the pump out fitting and the other hose from the "Y" would go to the discharge thru hull.

Beginning in the mid-90's Sea Ray started using "waste pumps", not macerators. As "bahamabreisus" posted above, waste pumps are permanently plumbed into the waste system with a y-valve that allows the user to select overboard discharge or dockside pump out. Follow the plumbing and right after the Y in the waste line there should be a waste pump which discharges the waste thru a seacock and a waste thru hull, probably in the bottom of the boat.

Overboard discharge was a factory option that included the y-valve, the waste pump, the waste seacock, the waste thru hull and the associated plumbing. If your boat was not equipped with the factory option, you will not find the waste pump, y valve, waste outlet etc.

If the boat was originally destined for the Great Lakes, my guess is the original owner wouldn't have sprung for the discharge equipment. It's illegal to dump you poop into the great lakes thank god!!!!

I do understand the "flow" of this, and acknowledge the boat may have not been equipped for it. I'm simply trying to identify where the thru hull would be, if it had been installed. It's not easy navigating the engine bay, and could be hiding behind something I can't see around.

I found the owner's manual on the 1995 450DA which has a diagram of the bilge. It shows the discharge seacock in the aft port side of the boat. If the 440 and the 450 are basically the same boat, the seacock should be in a similar location. (BB in the lower left of the diagram) (My 1994 400EC has the seacock almost in the same location)

The owner's manual can be obtained here: https://www.searay.com/us/en/owners.html

Looks like if it exists, it's back in the cavity where port rudder is. Will look. Thanks

If it exists, that is where it likely is, I had a 1992 440. That is where they put it. If I remember correctly, all 4 through hulls, Genny, Engines and overboard were there.

My engines, genny are in center aft, by aft bilge pumps. Nothing extra there.

I had a 1994 370 EC with the overboard discharge option. The seacock and thru-hull were located behind the port engine, almost against the hull side. The holding tank and waste pump were forward of the fuel tank, and the seacock and thru hull in the bottom of the boat were aft of the fuel tank.

I have added the macerator, and once the boat comes out for the winter, will install the thru hull fitting and seacock. I'll know how thick the hull is, once I've drilled thru it, but does anyone have an idea, before drilling? I'm thinking of putting it back where the engines, and generator raw water intakes are, starboard side in aft bilge area. Relatively easy to get to, yet out of the way. Thoughts? Thanks.
