My sea ray 250 Sundancer from 1996 does not charge my (3) batteries when I am on shore cable. All outlets work , I just Charged my batteries with an external charger from a 220v power outlet. Refrigerator works , my indicator (above the sink left where the Panel is) says that power is there.
but batteries do not charge and I ended up that I could not start the engine today. I needed a booster and then it worked.

Secondly since today my key in the ignition lock turns completely around. I probably tried to hard while starting today with low battery that something inside broke ? I still can start the Engine but when I turn they key a bit more it dies

can someone help?
Thanks !!

I’m confused. Are you saying your onboard charger isn’t working or you don’t have an onboard charger?

Check for fuses between the charger and the batteries. Maybe obvious, but make sure it is turned on. Its labeled "Converter" on the panel and needs to be on in order to charge.

You broke the ignition switch, but you knew that I guess.

I had a similar issue with the batteries not charging on a 1995 250 Sundancer. I had to replace the onboard charger. Not an easy job trying to squeeze into the engine compartment. Plus you have to remove the batteries to get to it. It cost about $200 for a decent onboard charger.

Ok thanks i will have a look for breakers.

Here is a picture of the „loading“ and the 3 batteries. The charger is only showing really „low“ amperes I would say.

I have never seen batteries with handles on the top. Good idea. Who is the manufacture. I had a charger like yours on our first boat. I replaced it with a smart charger. If you do replace it get a charger that is also an inverter. We used the inverter to charge our computer and run the microwave for instant soup at noon.

That does not look like it is charging at all. It may have failed or the fuses from the charger to the battery bank may be blown. That charger is old tech. The new Pronautic series in the same amperage would be a simple swap. As Northern says, a charger/inverter wired in properly will give you 110v at anchor, but a few more $$$ above a Pronautic charger.
