New boat to me
While getting up on plane the props seem to loose grip of the water for a 2-3 seconds.

You either have the drive trimmed out to far and the prop is cavitating or the prop has spun a hub and needs a new one.

You didn't mention what type of drive you have, but I'm going to assume it's either a B2 (based on the age) or B3. I highly doubt they're an Alpha. Bravo props don't have a hub, however you do have a coupler between the engine and the drive that can cause similar symptoms.

Hopefully, though, the issue is simply "user error" - like mentioned, starting off with the drives trimmed up, causing ventilation. Could also be due to a dirty bottom or drives. If this is your first bigger boat, you sometimes have to throttle up a little different than that 19-footer you listed in your sig. Not always, but sometimes.

Thanks all, trimmed all the way down. I would find it difficult to understand why the coupler wouldn’t slip all the way to plane.

You mention throttle up differently, please go into this deeper.
