268DA and Weekenders

You are correct, so hopefully we can learn from each other. I have mine winterized and under a tarp. I couldn't figure what the two hoses going toward the cabin coming off the engine were for then I got my flash light out and squeezed my big head where I could take a look and found that they go to the water heater never had one of those before. I built an A frame so the snow will slide off, I took the bow Pulpit off and the teak inserts off the swim platform so I can refinish them this winter. I have to try and remember what I did with my Formula, I had a Teak swim platform I believe that I read to mix linseed oil with the teak oil but I’m not sure will have to search for that in some of my old boating mags. You being from Texas probably don't have to worry to much about winterizing.
I had slot of teak on my older searay.
I found that a product called Sekins by Cetal (spelling is probably wrong) came in a gloss or satin worked great.
I would get 4 years out of it. If you are using it on an area you walk on go with the satin.
Good Luck

Agreed, I installed larger tabs and what a difference!!! Next step is adding the Bennett Auto Trim Tabs.

where did you get them from? What size did you go with?

also is there any not so expensive way to bring the cabin into this current century lol

Has any one tried towing water skiers from the radar arch.... Is it strong enough?

Definitely not strong or rigid enough.

There should be a nice tow hook already mounted in the center of your transom.

I have 2 268's I bought one that was (and still is) an unfinished project boat and one at auction, both have the dual 4.3l V6 engines. I have the engines out of both boats and the interior is partially removed from one. If anyone needs pictures or info on how something is installed or ran or ??? let me know and I can try to help.

I was thinking about upsizing to a 268 from an '87 230 Weekender. However, looking at the fuel economy, and the fact that I exclusively trailer, I think the 268 would be too unwieldy to trailer regularly, too slow, not fuel efficient, and with twin engines, too much to go wrong. I can't imagine this boat with a 260 Alpha 1. Seems like a 454 would be a lot of stress on an Alpha drive. I think I'll stay where I am for now. I really like the style of these older boats. I don't like the lack of a walk-around on all 23-25' Sundancers after 1998. Maybe a 250 sundancer, about '96-98 with the big block Bravo. But, I'd miss the teak and the old styling.

Will. I can address your concerns. Had 2 268 and 2 250. 87 268, 5.7 with Alpha1, underpowered, hard time staying on plane with the deep V and a weekend load of 2 adults 2kids zodiac motor and gear. 89 268 with 454 and bravo1. I loved that boat, was an idiot for ever selling it. Wish I had it back. Now have 91 250 454 bravo1. Light boat, big motor, bitch rocks! Nice gunnels for going forward not a balloon-style boat like the new ones. Kids grown and gone so a 250 enuff space for wife and me. More than 2, 268 much better. Wife still prefers 268 but wen I was looking in spring very hard to find. Good luck.
