Hi All,

The coolant recirculating pump on my Westerbeke 10 BTD needs to be replaced <leaking, bearings bad, pulley wobble>. A new pump is $380! Does anyone have any experience with getting a new pump cheaper? Can it be rebuilt by an owner? Other suggestions?

Thanks all!
Larry

Do some research. Westerbeke uses Mitsubishi and a couple of other asian engines. Parts are very cheap for them.

3 Cylinder?

I think my 7.6 BTD is based on a Mitsubishi L3 (E?). Pumps are about $100 best I can tell.

problem is nailing down the exact model...pulling the pump may find the right part number.

It can be rebuilt but the rebuild kit is expensive as well. I replaced mine and did the rebuild so I have a spare. Parts are available on westerbeke’s website and yes they are expensive. The raw water pump is a Johnson but the westerbeke pump is oem unless someone here knows different. Don’t forget the gasket, and a new belt.
