Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

For anyone who decides to go the Carb route here are the part numbers for a 2004 5KW 5E(Non LED display). Tech said I can buy them from this site cheaper than he can sell them to me. Also was pleasantly surprised to learn these are Kawasaki not Kohler engines.

I need to replace my muffler and choke on generator. Somehow the muffler cracked and the choke doesn’t seem to be working properly

Thoughts on an 05 340 with I/O's? Didn't know the Bravo 3s were even an option for the 340. Boat looks nice but has 6.2l engines with Bravo 3s. Thoughts? Should I even bother to look at this boat? It'll be used on the Upper Chesapeake Bay and often anchored in shallow water. Knew the 320 came with i/o's but not the 340....too big of a boat for the I/O's?

there's a lot of subjectivity to I/O's. for any given engine package the IO's will be faster and more fuel efficient than their inboard counterpart. they will be more difficult to maneuver at slow speeds for docking (best to have a bow thruster with I/0). they will be better for shallow water as you can trim them out. they give you lots more room in the engine compartment to work on your engines.

main down sides are the added complexity and maintenance. this is especially true if you wet slip your boat. personally I think I/O are better IF you have a lift...for wet slipped I won't own another I/O. they also move more weight farther back...inboards have a better ride in rough conditions. lastly, I/O's will lower your resale value as they seem to be less desirable generally speaking.

the 6.2's in a 340 work but don't leave much power to spare. 6.2's with B3's are the only way I'd have them in a 340 and that is only if i had a lift.

since I wet slip the only option I'd consider is the 8.1's with Vdrives

Well said, we know that the bravo III drives can handle the power because formula uses this setup.

Such a shame, the 340 I saw today was beautiful. 05 but with 6.2l and the Bravo3 drives. We don't go far, from marina to anchor is about 10ish miles, spend a few hours on the hook and then come back to the marina. If I think this would work I would make him a crazy and unrealistic offer.

Take it for a ride with a couple people on it, make sure it’s got some weight, for example good amount of fuel and maybe water and see how it performs, then you’ll know if it will work for u. But be aware that this boat could be a hard sell for u down the road when u are ready to get out of it

He says there are 2 offers on the boat so far. I'm not convinced because I do agree the engines and B3 could make it a challenging sell down the road. Its a lot of boat for the price, thats for sure!

What’s the price?

We are looking at purchasing a 340 in the 2003.5 to 2008. Can someone tell me the length and width of the mid cabin area? Looking to see how tall a person can sleep in the mid cabin area. Thanks!

Purchasing a 2004 340 and have a question around the cook top - specifically if it is induction or non-induction? I believe it has a glass cook-top, but that's all I know. Thanks

Whatever boat/ad you were referencing is no longer available. Must have been a good buy!!
It was an 04 Sundancer, 8.1 vdrives, campertop, seadeck, 500+hrs, gen, $86k on Rice River PA. The add was up this morning so it must have just sold. In my neck of the woods boats are selling in 1-2 days. Crazy market at the moment, good luck.

I saw that one previously. If I remember correctly it had one newer engine and the original one was around 700hrs?

I've officially moved on from the 6.2l Bravo 3 boat. At least for now!

My 340 is out there, somewhere. Unfortunately the end of season is beginning to enter peoples mind here in the NE and just maybe the perfect deal will surface.

Working out some kinks on my new to me 07 340 one of the issues I’m having is the shower pump doesn’t seem to have any power at the pump any thoughts?
Is there a fuse or breaker somewhere for this ?
I see a sump breaker in the engine room
Not sure where to start

Have you checked the fresh water pump breaker on the panel? I believe that is the breaker for the fresh water pump on the boat.

I should add shower box bilge pump is the one that’s not working
