Roger that! Thank you.

I was at my new boat today, cleaned the a/c strainer and the salon a/c isn't cooling below like 86* and the forward salon is giving me a "PS HI" fault.

Here's my plan of attack:

* Plan to first run straight fresh water through the system and see what comes out
* If the fresh water doesn't help out, I plan to use barnacle buster or something to clean the lines.

Based on what the strainer looked like, I suspect the a/c water lines are gunked up.

Am I planning on doing this right? Have any other suggestions for me?

Thank you,
Tim
Hi PS is generally low water pressure but it can also be too high of water temp according to my manual.
Assuming not enough water flow is causing the problem, a good flush is a start.

My problem Started slowly and it turned out to be water flow. The pump wasn’t spinning enough to push enough water through the 3 AC lines. I guess if I had to describe it, I would say that the magnets got weak. The impeller magnet wasn’t spinning fast enough to push the water. If that’s possible.

when I received the new pump and compared the magnetic attraction to the old pump there was a huge difference. The magnetic impeller wheel on the new pump was difficult to pull out whereas the magnetic impeller on the old pump was very easy to pull out. Once the new pump was installed, all was well.

Thank you. My first thought after cleaning strainer was the pump but I'll do the fresh water flush first, then clean the lines with chemical like barnacle buster / muratic acid and see what happens. I'll prepare myself for getting a new pump. According to the owners records (he was meticulous about keeping records), he replaced this pump 5 years ago.

While i'm thinking about it, I have read online here that some folks have replaced their rule float switch in the main salon with the water witch. Just so happens I have a water witch I was going to install on my previous boat. Just curious if you've done this install? I can see what some folks have done this.... seems to have some "lingering" water still there and that standing water would be GROSS and STINKY :)

Yes, I have installed the water which in the main sump, And it is much cleaner than with the standard float switch because the water level is much lower.

it took a little bit of adjusting to get it at the right angle so that the run time worked to drain the sump as best they could. But there will still be about 1 inch of water in the lower part of the sump tank. It will never suck all of it out completely. But again, it is so much better than the rule float switch.

Did you also change the actual pump sucking the water out too or just put the water witch in? I'm asking because I"m thinking of using the water witch and use a low profile pump to get the water much lower and suck more out. I am not a fan of the rule 2000 setup --- had that on the shower box on my formula .... not fun. Ended up replacing the float switch every year or every other year.

Guys, need one of these handles for my firend seat recliner. Where can I find it?

just installed the water witch....the pump sits on a sort of “riser” in the box so getting all the water out seems difficult.

the witch runs 6 seconds after the water stops touching the contacts....so I can always hear it running dry so to speak. There is always a little water left but if you install a low profile pump that gets more out, I’m all in!!!

I replaced mine almost immediately after getting the boat. Those handles are plastic but they work if you "help" the chair recline as you operate the lever. (Be sure that you warn your guests.)
Ordered it through my Sea Ray dealer. I had to remove the chair and flip it in order to change out the part. I wished they were metal instead of plastic.

Possible to share a picture or two of your setup?

Back on page "121" I posted 2 pics of the sump setup. If you zoom in on the pic with open lid you can see the water witch attached to the drain hose.

Good afternoon, I hope everyone is doing well. Our Master Cabin AC has finally quit cooling.
I was curious which unit everyone has gone back with. I was hoping for a easy plug and play scenario
like my Salon unit was. The unit that was in our cabin is the Cruise Air SXF7C1-N5 7000 BTU / 200-230 Volt.

Thanks so much for everyone's help on this forum

Got it on page 120. Did you mount the water witch down or it just lay there using its own weight? BTw, that's a very clean sump area.

I used the hose clamp that goes to the sump and attached it to that. Pretty simple install. Because it runs for 6-8 seconds after the last detection of water on the contacts, it will simply run dry for a few seconds if it is mounted to low...also, since the sump can't suck 100% of the water out due to it getting "dry", if you lay it down in there, it will run all the time.

I had it mounted as low as I thought it should be...but when we took the boat out and went on plane, the water tilted back and made contact with the witch and it would constantly run...you don't want that! So, tilt it up a little bit, or 3/4 of the way up around the drain line and it will work great.

Roger, thank you very much!

The battery box for the 8D batteries soon as I step down into the engine room looks damaged. Where can I find a new cover for that box?

Consider a sealed motor. More dollars but no issues with water getting to the windings.
Is there a specific make/model you recommend?

I used a March on my 300DA and a 370EC. You could check March or Kool Air.

How do you guys run fresh water (or banacle buster or whatever your favorite brand is) through your a/c lines to flesh them out? Do you have a procedure for doing this? If so, mind sharing what that procedure is please? can I use the groco flushcap and if so, am I looking for the 2 1/2” or another size? Thanks!

It is...I finally found a way to make it work and direct the air better into the cockpit. It isn't actually finished being installed, it is just sitting there. Hopefully will get back to it this weekend. I had to custom order it from Marine Parts Source and can give you his contact if desired. It is taking a little modification to sit properly, but I will get it done.

How does it direct air better, specifically? Is it more open? Do you have more control over where the air goes?
