Great News! CDC Says Covid On Verge Of Non-epdimic Status!

I don't think it's a cop out at all. It's just as important to me to protect my neighbor as well as my family. In the case of your coworker, the company is taking proactive steps to protect his/her livelihood, as well as help to protect your safety. What's your beef with that? Are you jealous that they got sick and you didn't?

Your point is well taken about the economy. Those are facts! Do you think the economy is somehow going to be great again if everyone pretends it's nothing to worry about, and carries on as if there is no pandemic? What's going to happen when the hospitals are overwhelmed (Florida is already there) and the doctors are ill, overworked, or give up? And, when people who are ill have to depend on others to feed them and care for them at home... in some cases while they are dying.

If the tiny sacrifice of wearing a mask and keeping a little distance can reduce that impact by even a small amount, why wouldn't you do it? Personal freedom isn't really an answer. "Personal freedom" as an excuse is just another way of saying you don't care about anyone but yourself. "Personal freedom" is the cop out.

Still trying to control others I see...

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Sir, personal freedom is the reason we have this great country. I don’t think it’s
A cop out.

Hey Guys, look what’s happening in Australia......just saying.

They are getting fkg pummeled, again. Although their raw numbers are low, look at their charts
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/australia/
Yeah, those Aussies are getting hammered. Here is a comparison of Australia to the U.S. on a per capita (apples to apples) basis.

The joy of charts... you can make them say what ever you want
Actually, you can make a sentence say whatever you want. These charts will only say what's in the data.
To be fair, here's Australia vs. the U.S. using the White House's favorite metric, Case Fatality Rate:

And the data is created by liars that figure and figures that lie...

You can have all the Big Macs you like. That impacts nobody but you.

EC was trying to say the virus is just like a Big Mac because both kill you. That, of course, just may take the cake for the most ridiculous thing I've heard yet!

For the record, I am not an advocate for government intervention. Unfortunately, too many people have no consideration for anyone but themselves, and/or they believe it's all a conspiracy where the world is trying to make everyone panic and not vote for Donald. It's those people who are fueling this big mess.

Remember, this all started in the US with only a few cases in CA - but everyone acted like it's no big deal. Now only half a year later, there are almost half a million cases, 160,000 dead, and people still want to act like it's no big deal. The truth is that if people took it seriously from the start, it's possible none of this would have happened. We can't fix the past, but we could learn from the past to help fix the future.

You are void of the context in which I posted.
Your off on your own little conversation.
BTW you do know brevity is a sign of genius right?

I’m in Florida. I’ve been in several hospitals as part of my work, you haven’t. Not a single ICU has been full and definitely not full of COVID patients.
I was in a health system ED in Orlando for half the day and not a single COVID patient came in.

You need to change the channel off CNN. You’re being fed lies about hospitals being overrun.

Why go to the trouble of making charts, looking up data etc when you can get the truth from Trump!
If you don’t want yo do that, just wait until November and the virus will just go away overnight.

In response to my question, you cited and individualized horror story dealing with covid -- a 10. I responded by citing an individualized case which had zero adverse affects -- a 1. For every bad one, there's a good one. That's the cop out. The failure to look at the bigger picture and critically analyze it.

You should have checked in the morgue or in the refrigerated truck out back. 250 deaths per day being reported by the Governor of Florida must be coming from somewhere.

While there's certainly reason to question the exactness (in either direction) of the U.S. data collected by the states and published by the Federal Government, I don't doubt it's correct in order of magnitude and direction. I've worked with the Australian government and they are obsessive about data quality and accuracy, they got it from the Brits.

In truth, we all ought to be concerned about the relatively minor (as compared to the U.S.) outbreak in Australia. The reason to be concerned is that it's happening in the middle of their winter in a country that's been fanatic about suppressing covid. They got it to near zero in their summer, which is what we should have done. The Australian state impacted is locking down solidly for six weeks and I expect they will get it back under control. I think whoever gets elected in November is going to have a much larger problem on their hands than we have seen to date. Let's hope I'm wrong.

I think you are right. No new hospitalizations in Florida. It's all made up by CNN.

The news is bogus. Even this source, Florida's Agency for HeathCare Administration is using fake numbers.: https://bi.ahca.myflorida.com/t/ABI...ital?:isGuestRedirectFromVizportal=y&:embed=y
They must be making it up when they say only 16% of ICU beds are open statewide. I guess the other 84% are filled with people suffering from Big Mac attacks.

I agree with you.
I think he is right.
“The Donald” said the virus is under control!
