Went to start the gen-set and when I flipped the switch in the salon, the solenoid switch light came on but then I went to turn on the next switch, the pre-heat /on, it did not light so I still tried to start and nothing...won't crank over. I went into the bilge and checked the circuit breaker and it is fine so tried to remotely start in the bilge and again, nothing, won't turn over at all. Was just running great....Ideas?? Thanks!!!

Just a guess since you dont say what model generator.

I have a Westerbeke. There may be an emergency shut off switch on the electrical box. It would be a plain toggle switch, close to the on generator start/stop switches. It may be in the wrong position interrupting the circuit. Mine is in need of replacement, but a quick jiggle gets mine going for the short term.

Mine is a 7.3KW GAS KOHLER 120V/60. All switches on at the electrical box in the bilge are on. I have replacement switches for the salon on their way but I'm guessing. Since I have a light in the salon for the generator solenoid but right next to it is the pre-heat/on switch and all of the sudden, no light on the switch when I flip it on. Am set to check all connections on the gen-set as well. Thanks,
