Is there a sunbrella cover that is supposed to cover the windlass? If so, where can I purchase one?

Did you measure your stroke? Post of pic of your old one with measurements.

I have 2, pa 14 4 35

my boat is a 2001 with a hardtop if that matters

My 410 had a cover that was in rough shape that I cut apart and sewed a new one. A couple of us attempted this DIY...starts on page 124.

I’m not aware of an off the shelf replacement. If your not a DIY, a local shop should be able to do this for a reasonable price. Having the right sewing machine is really important for this job.

Sad to say that my boating season has ended abruptly. I didn't go down without a fight though!

We made our last trip from Mackinac Island to our home port on August 2nd...entered our harbor and topped off the tanks and proceeded to our slip. Spent the next 3 days cleaning and doing a little bit of work at home and decided to invite some friends out for a cruise on August 6th. They hadn't been to a restaurant since before shut down so we were going to cruise across Grand Traverse Bay to "Knot a Bar" in Omena. They had to be very careful not to get hit with the VID as their son was drafted by the Saints in the 3rd round..he couldn't risk getting sick before signing his contract as a rookie.

Well, they arrived at the boat, we chatted and then it was time to depart....the port engine would crank but not turnover...what do I know about diesel engines??? Very little when it does this! I tried priming it as it didn't seem to be getting fuel. A day later my mechanic called and walked me through some tests to try, those failed also. He arrived at the boat on the 12th and after a couple hours determined it to be the EDC. (We swapped the STBD. engine EDC to the port and it fired right up.) We both thought, No big deal, get it ordered and get back on the water! A small fee would be paid for this new EDC of course...$4,700.00! Oh well, 5 boat bucks it is.

The sad news came the following Monday when he called and stated that the EDC has been phased out by Volvo Penta and the new vendor won't have production on them up until Q4 2020. You hear that? They phased out the most important part of the engine before the new vendor was up and running...idiots!!! Trust me when I tell you that we have called every VP dealer east of the Mississippi and no one has it. A dealer in Maine told me to "get in line" with everyone else that is waiting for the same part. WOW!

So, our beloved 460 is now more of a barge than a boat. We have a very nice harbor we call home port, but it just isn't the same when your "Stuck" in it. We will have 6 more weeks of floating on it, then we will put her away. Haul out day is always the hardest part of the season, but this one may be the worst ever.

Have a great rest of your summer everyone and here's to calm seas and light breezes.

That sucks! I would be very surprised if it cannot be repaired. This one say's trucks and busses but may be worth a phone call and there must be others. https://www.tdvelectronics.com/product/volvo-bosch-edc-repair-service/

Not sure which one you have but you can enter your engine serial number here.

Sorry to hear that news.

Yeahhh, me too. Mike and his team were great though! I can highly recommend them. After his guy was told it was not in stock, he called me and said "I'm a little ticked off at Volvo for this, but now I am on a mission to find a work around for you".

Need Diesel engine parts give them a try:

Well that’s definitely strange. You may need to move the mount you have back further to make the pa14 work. I’ve changed my own and 1 other boat and it was a direct replacement.

Appreciate the help and wasn't complaining ... just wanted to report back and show the picture of the PA-14. For now, I have one motor pushing and pulling the window closed but I know that won't be good for long term.

Bill - So sorry to hear this news. I'm truly shocked at this kind of issue with a critical part, even if an older assembly.

To put a positive spin on it, if that's even possible, all of us here who learn so much from you and your projects will surely benefit from the extra time you have to "tinker" and post enhancements that we can put on our wish lists.

Quick question about the air conditioners and where they exit on this 2004 ... 460 of mine. I have one forward in the stateroom (smaller one), salon has 16k I believe and then the cockpit has a 16k. Do all of them exit the water on the port side through the little hole and the bigger hole?

also, the condensation from the salon + front stateroom goes into that shower box and the cockpit condensation ends up in the bilge?

All A/C pumps have water outflow thru the port as you describe, portside aft. The condensate for the front salon SXR7C1-N5 drains to the "shower sump" box, as does the condensate for the main unit SX16C-S4. My cockpit A/C SXUF18 condensate WAS directed to the engine room forward bilge area but I have since spliced in a Mermaid Condensator to route that into the pump effluent line. I did this only because I wanted a completely dry bilge area. On my boat all pumped water and condensates now exit thru the same port.

Thank you! I'm likely to do something similar if not the same. I am not a fan of dumping the water into the bilge and would prefer a dry bilge and didn't even notice this until I used the cockpit a/c. Appreciate the help!

Yes another question as I learn more about this boat. I'm learning the bilge system and want to run what I think I know by you more experienced folks and let me know if I'm good or not?

This question is about bilge pumps, specifically and how many.

Far as I know, I have the following:

* Rule 2000 bilge pump (shower box)
* 1 front bilge pump (soon as I come down the steps into the bilge dead in front near a/c strainer)
* 2 aft bilge pumps (both are identical 2000gph pumps)

Am I missing anything here? Are there any other bilge pumps I should be looking for? LOL.

Thanks,
Tim
