Has anyone replaced the factory Clarion Amp in their 410?
I found the 4 channel amp behind the starboard side seats but I am wondering how they set these up from the factory. In total, I have 4 cockpit speakers, 1 sub and 4 cabin speakers.
Did SeaRay run all those speakers off that one 4 channel amp and the head unit, or is there another amp somewhere else that I cant find?
hopefully someone on here has done this before and can save me a lot of time running around pulling the boat apart searching. lol
Thank you in advance for everyone's input!

I had a 4 channel and a 2 channel amp in mine. Both were where you describe. The 4 channel amp ran the 4 cockpit speakers off of 2 channels wired in parallel, and bridged 2 channels for the sub. The 2 channel amp ran the cabin speakers, again in parallel.

When I upgraded to a fusion head unit, I ran the cabin speakers off the head unit internal amp and replaced the 4 channel with a 6 channel JL Audio. I left the factory wiring 2 amp channels—> 4 cockpit speakers, and Bridged 2 channels —> subwoofer.

JL Audio is a great amp, and I intend to rewire the cockpit speakers direct to the unused channel to get better volume control of the speakers behind the door and by your foot at the helm.

Wonderful! Thank you for that response!
I am not seeing another amp near that one I already found, so maybe mine is set up a little different.
I too have a new Fusion head unit and was going to swap out the amp with a new Alpine 4 channel class D amp. That old Clarion amp is a A/B and it draws a TON of amps from my batteries.

On mine I added a new 4 channel amp for the cockpit speakers, a 2 channel amp (bridged) for the cockpit sub and run the cabin speakers from the head unit. The 400/410 is nicely setup for the DIYer since the head unit and amps are close together. If you choose to use existing speaker wire, which I did, there is minimal cursing involved in this project.

LOL! Im looking for minimal cursing, fiberglass in arms and dismantling the whole interior. So, I am all for everyone's advice!
Thank you for that photo! Im going to pull off the rear seat panel that is more forward. Maybe there is another amp in there too.

Thats a great idea! thank you!

I have worked on a few of the 400 and 410 audio sytems and all of them I have seen have the cockpit speakers and sub off a four channel amp and the cabin speakers in the v berth and salon powered by the head unit from the factory. I think some of the later 410's have a small second amp just for the sub. Like Stee said, adding a better amp or two is pretty easy with the access provided. I added one 5 channel Rockford Fosgate 900/5 for the cockpit and a powered enclosed 10" sub for the salon and think it came out pretty good for the spend.

Thank you Cocktail Time! I appreciate your experienced response.
I purchased a 4 channel amp for the four cockpit speakers, and I will keep the old Clarion 4 channel for the sub only and power the 4 down below off the head unit. Eventually, i will just replace the amp sub and speaker.

My experience was that the existing 4 channel amp was not worth saving. If you're already in there why not spring for another <$150 and replace that bugger?

Cheap...$120 :)
