so my pitot tube for speedo is broke (wont stay down, maybe hit a fish). not gona fix til winter haulout. I just got an iPhone 11 last week, first smart phone. I believe there is a way to have a gps on the phone that tells me my speed that i can use when on boat. True? any of you techies know if it is built in the phone or do i need an app? where get one? any preferred?

Navionics Boating app, that’s my recommendation. Tells you speed, will leave bread crumb trail, etc

Find the blue app store icon on your phone, and type in "speedometer" in the search bar. There are quite a few options available. This is the one I've used for years:

You’d need to download an app. Plenty of them. Try one called Speedometer. Also a mapping one like navionics can do much more.

Dual purpose: get Waze, which is by far the best driving navigation map. It has a speedometer.

But there’s no reason not to get other apps too.
