410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

There is a spec on shifting the transmissions, I think off the top of my head I want to say <1000 rpm, and I doubt much difference between 650-750. Keep in mind that the shift solenoids are pressure regulating so it takes a second or two for the transmission to engage. That is unless you have the newer pump/solenoids in which case the solenoids are instant on/off and if that case a little lower rpm would be nice. I have one of each and can tell the difference (slight).

I know what you mean mine have a slight delay. Sounds like given the tranny spec it’s personal preference on idle. I’m going to wait to mess with it again until we get it out on the water.

C'mon guys you know better than to discharge a lead acid battery to less than 10.8 volts right? That is unless your pocketbook affords new batteries every season..... You will permanently damage the battery if discharged below 10.8 volts so if you are going to do deep discharging as you are discussing then get a quality battery monitor.

I like it because it monitors your battery health
Great investment

Have any of you replaced the charger with a pronautic? I loved our last one so I’m going to do this boat over the winter. It looks like the 1240p would be a good fit. 3 bank, so it will charge both main banks and the genny battery

wondering what you all have swapped the OEM for?

I installed the 1240P last summer. Was a very easy swap. I think I posted something in this thread about the fact that the battery switches themselves do not fully isolate the charger from the batteries. Ask me how I know :):)

thanks guys, I did stumble across the fact that Sterling Power USA co-engineers the chargers with pronautic and apparently their version of the 1240P can be anywhere from $80-100 cheaper than the pronautic. I do like the looks of the pronautic better, and that must be worth something right :)

I installed the 1240P last summer as well. So far so good. The fact that it was a direct replacement made it easy, just needed to drill a couple of holes for mounting, but reused the existing wiring.

If I was to purchase a new charger, I'd probably be looking toward the Victron Energy line of equipment. Take a look at the Victron Centaur 12/50.

I wish I would have thought a little further down the road when I replaced the batt charger with a Pronautic 1240 a couple years ago. First of all its a great charger at a great price. However...

Now that I have put a lot of my engine and other systems on a N2K network and the MFD is capable of displaying a lot of info, the biggest thing I have no info from is the battery banks, and I'd like to see more data from that (I'm looking to add battery monitoring for this reason).

Victron is pretty awesome stuff. If you want to know more about you batteries, maybe even buck up. This allows a little more info about the charging without opening up the hatch. This is a 3 bank 60 amp version, and I beleive this allows you to see charging stats on your MFD or connect up to a Victron battery monitoring system...I'm still researching these options.

those look impressive. I was going to at least add the pronautic monitor panel at the helm but I think it’s pretty basic in terms of what it reports

Sounds like a project! It would be wicked cool to integrate with the NMEA network. But for 60amp wouldn't we need to replace all of the wiring between the batteries, charger and switch? And some fuses too? I thought I read that somewhere....perhaps I'm missremebering though.

Any of you guys ever put a swimplatforms.com platform on your 400/410? Of course I really want to buy a hydraulic platform but I'm not going to spend that kind of coin on this boat. Wondering if any of you folks have done it and perhaps how big you went?

Thanks!

The battery charger is on the hot side of the solenoid. The only wire that would need to be upgraded would be the wire directly from the charger to the hot side of the solenoid #113-8. No fuse. Looks like you would only need to upgrade to #6 wire.

Has anyone replaced the vent blowers? Either the galley or head. Mine are so loud they are deafening. I’m not exaggerating. Is there an alternative to the factory fan?

I took Tuesday after Labor Day off so the wife and I could just go for a nice quiet ride and maybe out to lunch, but the rain changed my plans. So I decided to do the project I've been hauling around in my back seat all summer. Thanks for the idea Roller. I added a Garmin 742. My plan is to send engine data to it in the future.
