Hi,
This my first post and looking for ideas to solve or identify my issue.
When I push the start button there clicking rattling noise then nothing. The smart craft display indicates that the start was not successful and a fault code of 212.
The next start attempt will start normally without any unusual noise. The engine runs smooth and all system are good. I changed a battery to ensure I had enough volts to the solenoid and starter but it still does it.
it does start every time after the initial clicking noise.
Any ideas or had this issue before?

It is hard to tell the specific area but from the engine.
I’m standing near the throttle when I push the start button. No one back at the engine to try to locate the noise area.

Clean all your battery and starter cable connections. Sounds like you have poor connection. Loose and/or dirty connections will cause your symptoms.

Maybe not a rattle but is definitely a loud clicking.
I just started it after cleaning both battery terminals and it clicked for a shorter time then started. That is an improvement. don’t know how to reach the starter as it is below the exhaust on the right side.

To scoflaw's point, maybe you should check your starter bolts also.

Anyone have a figure and orientation of the starter. Where the bolts are and such.
It would have to be done blind and by feel.
