410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

I took Tuesday after Labor Day off so the wife and I could just go for a nice quiet ride and maybe out to lunch, but the rain changed my plans. So I decided to do the project I've been hauling around in my back seat all summer. Thanks for the idea Roller. I added a Garmin 742. My plan is to send engine data to it in the future.

Looks awesome! Plenty of room for one more 742 ya know :):)

I keep the breakers off so no-one accidentally activates them! It would be nice to have peace and ventilation at the same time.

I am the exact same way. My stove and vent breakers almost never move. But for those dire situations where Ramen noodles are the only remaining food item onboard...

Well done, Joe!

The front head vent also doesn’t move much air out of the head because it’s drawing from the galley at the same time. I might try and add a dedicated vent fan for the forward head this winter, but opening the shower hatch seems to do a pretty good job

@dtfeld i think I recall seeing you post that you installed the EGT/boost combo gauge? If so, which kit did you buy? I think id like to add them this offseason

I used Maretron TMP100 and their thermocouples to get this to display. One downside is that not all MFDs can display EGT data. I also added transmission temp and pressure.

ISspro make a mechanical Turbocator that has boost and EGT in one gauge...you'll need two, or there are separate gages if you have the dash panel space...it’s a 3” round dial.

Perfect, thanks. I don't plan on doing electronics for a while so I don't have a capable MFD. Mechanical gauges will get the job done

Where did you tap into the exhaust for the stack temp, somewhere on the elbow?

The exhaust elbow had a pipe nipple right after the Turbo exhaust. 1/8”-27 NPT.

The boost was accessed via 1 of the 3 ports near the aftercooler/heater/intake manifold. I think it’s a 3/4” -16 machine thread with a copper washer to 1/8” -27 NPT adapter.

Let me see if I can find the thread.

I have an elusive leak that must be from the freshwater system. I suspect it’s slow, wherever it is

in the center bilge in front of the aft cabin, and the void under the aft cabin floor (I cut a hole, see previous posts) I collect about 1-2 gallons of water in a 24 hour period. It seems worse on shore water probably since the pressure is higher. The freshwater pump does not cycle when we’re on the tank, but the leak still exists.

I’ve looked at all the faucet connections in the heads and galley, and started pulling out access panels but I cannot find anything dripping.

I have some tracer dye that I will be putting into the tank next week to track it down.

the water is not coming from the front of the boat, I also cut access holes in the forward hatches and they are dry. It also collects when the freshwater tank is empty but on hose water, indicating it’s coming from amidships or further aft.

My question, is there a usual suspect? I have a bunch of spare 15mm connectors for whenever I find it but I don’t want to just start replacing without finding the root cause.

Doesn't the 410 (I had a 2000 400DA) have the "L" shaped water tank? If so check to see if there is a crack in the tank at that inside corner of the L shape. Those tanks if overfilled tend to bulge out on the top surface and stress and crack that inside corner and they leak right there. Usually, however the carpet gets wet.....

I think the 400 is under the aft. Our 410 is under the front v berth. I didn’t completely dismantle the master berth yet but I don’t see anything showing the tank is leaking. As a test I drained it completely and put it on the hose and it still collected
