Hi All,

My 20 year old WD 802 M Splendide washer/dryer died this weekend. Any experiences on choosing a replacement? Stay with Splendide? Other brands? Where to buy? I'm limited to the same size due to cabinetry.

Oh, and especially if you have made this replacement in this boat (99' 450 EB), would LOVE to hear your learning experiences! I've measured, and it looks like the unit will barely fit through the aft cabin door, out into the salon, cockpit, off the boat, etc,. And it weights 150 lbs??!!....a 2 person job for sure. Any and all comments are appreciated!

Thanks
Larry

Thanks!

Mine did the same about 3 weeks ago and I think it’s just the strap as everything works but it doesn’t spin. I simply cannot move it..?and can’t access the back as I have about 6-8 inches under the stairs. I also think it doesn’t go through the cabin door... let me know how it goes and if it fits through the cabin door..

I replaced mine with a new Splendide. I had no trouble getting it in my 450EB. Put a strap around it and lower it down into the hatch. Yes, it is really a 2 person job.

Same here, replaced it with newer Splendide unit couple years ago. We use it all the time. I used straps to assist getting it out of the hole. It's more involved on my boat, not sure about your EB setup.

I should have followed-up on this. Yes, we got a new Splendid and my son helped install it. It was a challenge, but not as bad as could be. The straps are the biggest help! It does fit through the door, but just barely. Thanks to SR for thinking about this replacement when designing the boat.

And we have always used are ours. Missed having it while it didn't work. I have to say that the new one is AWESOME!....quieter, better, etc. Very happy with it. Now Camping World where I got it is a different story......

Looking at purchasing a 2001 EB and the washer/dryer condition and life remaining is a concern of ours. Where did you all buy them from? How much were they? Glad to know they can be replaced! Thank you.

Timing and shipping destination (marina) were issues for me at that time. I looked at Amazon, but it would take too long. I was able to get it at Campers World for about $1,100.

One thing to consider, there is a choice of vented or non-vented units for the dryer. My boat is vented. Make sure you order the correct one for your boat. Vented units dry much better.

Sorry to bug you all again... I have a small 12 inch access behind the washer/dryer under the stairs, but not enough to get in there and remove the back to change the strap... I can’t figure out where the screws are holding it done.. I need to pull it into the the stateroom for another 12-18 inch so I can access...
Anyone knows someone with a 480 DB that either change it or fix the old one???
Thanks
