Official 390DA Thread

I owned this boat 10 years ago so I don't remember the exact figures but there was a small loss on the top end but an increase at cruise at lower loads which is what I was after.

I have been flushing after every run since moving to Florida. The zincs last twice as long. Although I haven't had the aftrcoolers apart yet I did change a hose on the gen heat exchanger and it was clean.
Did you make a custom flush system or the ones from sbmar?

I use SBMAR kits and made a T adaptor for the gen intake hose. I do have QSC's on this boat.

Works as advertised? Does the normal hose pressure work or did you have to add anything to increase pressure? During our survey the Cummins mechanic swore by them but I haven’t met anyone who’s actually used them.

She's finally on her way home to Michigan.

I use a 3/4 inch hose to flush and they work very well.

And she’s home.

On another note I used Smithline LLC to move her from Oklahoma to Michigan and Damien, the owner/operator, did a great job. Very professional and communicated the entire time letting me know how things were going and timing. Highly recommend him.

Vacuflush question. I've recently replaced duckbills and toilet gasket but still get some occasional cycling of the vacuum tank pump. I hear it pumping maybe 15 min or so after flushing. Sometimes it only pumps a few times to bring up the vaccum. Is it time to replace the pump components?

ok I'm stumped. My gauge lights are not illuminated when I have the running lights on. The back lights behind the switches come on, but not one of the gauges light up. I've tried increasing the dimmer switch, no luck. Any thoughts? I'm thinking all the bulbs could be burned out, I'm going to try changing one and seeing if that help.

Thank you.

This may sound silly, but I have to ask.... Are your engines running? or at least ignition on with start switches in "on" position? On mine this has to happen for the gauge lights to come on.

lol... yes... All the actual navigation lights are on, red, green, mast and stern, even the switch panel lights on the dash are illuminated, just not the gauges themselves.

LOL ...OK point I was trying to make...it seems gauge lights are independent from all those switches you mentioned. Engines running=gauge lights on... I had the same question a few years ago and I finally realized they worked when The engines were running...... maybe I have an electrical problem... who knows??

Actually this weekend I found out they do indeed work and you’re actually spot on, engine need to be running, not just on. Thanks for the input, you’re spot on.

2005 390 Sundancer. Salon refrigerator only runs on DC now. I assume I need a new power supply. Does anyone know where to source the part?

Has anyone replaced their Red/green nav sidelights and if so what part did you use? Attwood? Thanks!

Just curious if these boats came with the Cummins QSB 450hp engines? Or only the 420 did.... In the market for 390,40,420.. And its gotta be Hard Top. Just want a up 20s cruise speed... 28/30. mph...

Not in a 40.

Do you wish you had the 420 for the extra power or does the 425hp push the boat just fine? I really only need 1 head. And rather not the bigger boat... But want something that cruises nice... And nice distance on fuel...

I have to say I’m plenty please with my 40. The 425’s are great engines. The boat cruises really well, good on diesel and very comfortable. You really have to look honestly at what you will use the boat for and where you live. While I’ve always wanted a 44 the 40 was the right boat for our family.
