8 day cruise from St Petersburg to Captiva

A few years ago we were staying at South Seas, decided to run up to Cabbage Key for lunch on our dinghy. Channel was rough so started venturing further and further outside the channel.

Yes, it does get shallow, very shallow. Too shallow for the dinghy.
 
We’re doing a keys trip October and stopping at south seas on the way north to Sarasota been there 2x and really like it.
 
Havana Shamrock when are you headed to the Keys and what part are you going to? I have most of Rocktober and the first week of November off and looking to head south as well.
 
Leaving Oct 19th stopping at pink shell then onto Galleon resort for 2 days then Snorkeling at sombrero reef onto Marlin BAY (Marathon) south seas for 2. Days on the way back plenty of room I’m traveling with a 48DA CSR member and I’ll have GREG (csrJ 48DB onboard for the trip. Come join along.
 
Carter we’re having dinner with steve that night I’ll just expect you to also be there I’ll keep you updated as to when and where.

If you were heading south from Sarasota and heading for the keys what would be the safe way to go in something like a 32 foot boat with an estimated safe range of 150 miles?

We would always stop at Marco, top off the tanks, then anchor for the night. Leave first thing in the morning for either Marathon or Key West. About the same distance to either. As I recall it was about 90 miles. From Sarasota to Marco there are some great spots to hit. Just depends on your timeline.
 
Harold we cancelled the keys due to weather we took the inside down to south seas resort in captiva we have greg and Colleen onboard CSR (Greg) and bob and Carol CSR (harmonyJ on their 480DA we’re making our way up to st Pete for a street Grand Prix this weekend.
Last week we met Footballfan Mark and Debra along with Carterchapman and Susan lovely bunch of people.
We may try the keys again in December.
