Haulout Time

A little cool and cloudy but not stopping us!

Well, the season ended on a bad note for us. On our way out of the marina, heading towards our winter storage facility, we hit something (fairly big, I think) on our channel. It rocked the boat hard to the starboard side. Thankfully, I was only going at idle speed. I quickly checked the engine room, I thought for sure I ripped the shaft out and would see water pouring in. That wasn't the case. With fingers crossed, I tried to power up and as soon as I applied throttle, I felt very bad vibration. What should have been about a 45 min to 1 hour ride to our winter storage facility, took over 3 hours.
On a good note, the boat was to be hauled today for winter storage, so I guess no lost boating time. But, I will be anxious all winter until I get it fixed and have had the chance to run it to see if everything is fixed.

Today, will be contacting the insurance company.

Bummer! Sorry to hear that. But like you said, bright side, no missed boating days. We've got to take what we can get in this doomed year of 2020 :)

Sorry to hear that but I guess if you had to pick the day and location you probably did good. 'Rocking the boat hard' doesn't sound good, pictures will be required, got my fingers crossed for you.

Wow sorry to hear that Brent. Hopefully it's not to bad. I thought we had a bad haulout day but it didn't turn out as bad as yours. As we we're just pulling out of our canal heading to the gas dock for our pumpout. A goose hunter shoots down the shoreline and peppered the portside bow of the boat. Needless to say I lost my $hit. He is so lucking i didn't have a shotgun on board. I let him know how intelligent I thought he was with quite a few choice words. Once I got to the gas dock and inspected the boat I was surprised to see no damage at all. Even with our mishaps Brent at least we had nice weather on the 12th. Heres to a short layup.

I got hauled last Sunday. I went out yesterday to cover her up with plastic.

I'll probably start going back around Christmas to start my winter project list. Until then...

Boat getting shot by a goose hunter, WoW. It'll be a long time before anyone beats that story. Glad no one(or boat) was hurt, he could have put somebody's eye out.

Holy Cow Joe, a goose hunter peppering your boat. You are a better man than me for keeping your cool and not ripping his F*&%ING head off.
2020 sucked between the high water and dock damage on Lake Huron, fried ECM on Port Motor and now prop damage. I am really looking forward to 2021.

I’m hauling out on the 28th. Hanging on to that last week of noating

I hit a log or something last year..... you couldn’t see the prop damage but vibration was bad.... so don’t fear the worst. Good luck

Pulling out early can be very risky ..... play at your own risk :)

Out of the water, 3 weeks on the hard to do some work and into the building. Another year behind us.
We can't complain, didn't get to travel as we would have liked because of covid, seemed as though every time we were ready to go to the other end of the lake, Ohio was on New York's bad boy list and we would have had to quarantine upon our return, but we managed a 4 boat flotilla to Erie PA in July and we had a nice 2 week getaway to the 1000 Islands in early September. A lot of day travel, spent a whole bunch of time in the water with a record warm July and of course, good times on the docks. Added 130 hours to the clocks.
Now if it would just quit raining and stop blowing, I'll head out into the woods!

Storage 2020 -2.JPG

Wow do they squeeze those boats in the indoor storage tighter than sardines. It looks like you have to crawl underneath to get from bow to stern.

Oh yeah, a real pita, that’s why they block it outside first if we want so we can work on it. The jet skis are the real pain, they’re jammed in under the bows and it’s a real challenge to get to where you want to go. But once they are in, everyone is pretty much done with them anyway, it’s cold storage. They’ll put it outside again in the spring if we want or just go right in if we’re ready. I usually do a little work inside first. Half the floor space is paid for twice by boats and a 3rd time by jet skis lol

I ran down to RI were the boat stays for the winter. Beautiful ride today but amazing 6-8ft rollers from the hurricane that is out in the Atlantic. They were on 14sec intervals so very long rollers, it was cool to see them break on the rocks off Newport. I am winterizing this weekend and she will come out next week. We only got 90hrs on it this year. We had lots of days on the boat but not too many long trips due to Covid. This pic was in Buzzards Bay before we got to the rollers.
