340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Thanks, she did find backing down a workable solution when we were there. It was coming back up that was the bigger issue.

Thanks. I wondered how the stairs were attached to the upright, but I didn't think of looking at the connection when we were inspecting the boat. Adding something thick to the top surface of the top step was my first thought too. That may be the easiest solution if I can gain enough height without increasing the distance to the next step too much. I need to get back to the boat to take some measurements.

We'll be disappointed if we can't come up with a viable solution, because we had been looking primarily at 310's when this boat showed up on the market and it appears to be a great boat at a very good price - and of course, once you look at a 340 - well you know the rest.

You will not regret this purchase. The 340 is an awesome boat. Worst case you can have steps fabbed by a pro. That'll be pricey but if that's all you need to do to make the 340 your perfect boat, it's a small price to pay.

I also have a 340DA of that vintage, and one related suggestion that might save a fall one day is to get some non-skid adhesive tape, and run a strip across the stainless edge that is between the cabin and the cockpit. It's so easy to slip on that when it or your feet are wet, and it's an ugly fall if your foot slips on that going up or down.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll make a note of it.

Okay, I went to my boat and the treads are just welded to the post with no apparent connection to the bathroom wall.
Like be_prepared stated you could have a pro redo the steps, or maybe lift the treads up with a spacer of some design to elevate the treads.
Even possible for your wife’s comfort a block of some type could be attached to the side of the top tread nearest the wall. Enough for one foot and leaving enough space on the tread to step on the way down. I didn’t have a block to try to test it. Not the best but may give you time to find a metal fabricator/ boatyard to redesign them for you.
They are great boats! And I’ve had many boats up to 46’. Good luck.

Thanks for checking that and for the partial step idea. That would certainly work, but I'd have to make sure it was real obvious to avoid someone else not noticing and stepping on only half of it on the way down. At this point, I'm convinced that we can figure something out with the steps, so we made an offer on the boat - fingers crossed.

Good luck ! I just installed a new tv on the pull out space where the original was, and a new refrigerator, so I can share ideas that worked for me. Definitely you would want the step clearly visible maybe bright yellow or ? Cheers!

The buyer accepted our offer. Survey a week from Monday. I'll get some measurements off the stairs then if all goes well.

I believe you will be very happy with the 340. They are great boats and for their size offer a lot. We are on ours enjoying the Halloween Blue moon and ready for a morning cruise.

Hello
We just purchased a 2001 340. I would love to see your ideas or pics of how you mounted new tv and size of tv you went with. Thanks

It snowed here on Halloween, so no cruise for us :(

Sure. I used a 24” LG tv and a desk mount for computer monitor. I’ll send a couple of pics. It is on the Pullout and can swivel in any direction so from the bed, dining take aft stateroom it’s nicely visible.
I did something similar in my Motorhome and it held up very well.

Sorry the pics are sideways? I think because I shot the wide. Tv rests snugly against the upholstered frame. Also see the LG DVD player held down with two sided Tape.
