Covid-19 statistics

I don't see any stats on what percentage of the called out populations have been tested.

Until every man, woman, child and LGBTQ+RSIUL on the planet has been tested, case numbers are completely meaningless, and any conclusions fall like a house of cards.

I've a buddy who is an OB/GYN in Green Bay. They are pretty full. His assessment this morning: His hospital is doing 500+ tests a day with a 20-50% positive rate. Most are not sick, but they are at capacity for COVID beds. They are sending people home with O2, steroids, and platelet inhibitors unless/until pulse ox less than 90. Then they are admitted. Death rate is lower than other areas.
Nope, not true. Complete BS! Just ask El Capitan. He knows. He’s been in hospitals all across the country.

As I tried to point out the "statistics" or numbers are not going to make any sense for years, no accurate big picture.
Too many variables, no consistent definitions and add to that the money issues and there is no reason for objectivity.
You cant look at any stat by it self without knowing the location, the demographics, the facilities and a dozen other considerations.

A large hospital is going to be able to deal much better than a small regional hospital. It starts off with more beds, doctors and nurses. Even there population density will be different, more than 50% of US beds are in smaller hospitals less than 300 beds. One hospital could easily be overwhelmed while another is handling it easily. The largest in WI is St Lukes at 1200 beds so they get smaller from there.

The death rate is the most important; how deadly is Covid, how likely am I to die, but even that number is not necessarily objective as to "cause of death".

I work from home fortunately, we go shop every two weeks (pay day). We eat out once a week to get out, we socially distance, wash our hands and indoor shopping yeah I where a mask. Hey I'm 63, so no I'm not stupid.

Life is tough enough, wear your life jacket, keep the fire extinguishers charged, use the blower after fueling.
You don't have to cower in a corner, but don't go throwing yourself on life's landmines either.

Maybe so, maybe not. Since 2017 over 234,000 people die EACH MONTH in the US. The 2017 yearly total was 2,813,503 (from the CDC). Subsequent years were higher.

Come January or February 2021 we'll have the total deaths for 2020. Does it matter if there is a breakdown of who died from what? Maybe not. If we're somewhere around 2019's yearly total of ~2,855,000 then that says a lot about Covid-19 and it's deadliness. Could be more than 2019. Could be less.

The big picture will be available Q1 2021.

And hopefully we can have that going away party for Bruce Springsteen and Tommy Lee

I'm happy to pay for their tickets to Caracas as long as they turn in their passport and citizenship. The reality is these celebs behave like two year olds....."if I don't get my way I'll scream!".

Scream away but please pack your bags tonight.

Another fake news post. 500 tests per day is a laughable statistic.
So w 20%-50% positive results they’re sending between 100-250 patients home w O2, platelet inhibitors and steroids? You do realize no hospital has that supply to dole out on a daily basis right? You also know no hospital encounters 500 new patients per day right?
Such BS. Not sure which is worse, the actual post or the ignorants who believe it. o_O

So, I shouldn't believe a well respected physician? Wisconsin is doing 20,000 tests a day with a 25% positivity rate. Seems plausible a large hospital in Green Bay could be doing that number. He would have no reason to make it up when texting me about it.

Not looking good. Be prepared. Harris will be President within 60 days and Pelosi will be VP. Gas will be $10/gallon, 50% of your pay will go to taxes and another 25% to healthcare. No lie, I may be further ahead flipping burgers for the rest of my life. I am a System Security Engineer with a great income but high stress. By the time they take their cut I might be further ahead in a less stressful job. If I take enough of a pay cut I can get everything free.
