Eta - the storm & forecast

We have had very windy conditions, but the worst part is we are up over 3 feet. The water is now on top of my dock. My lighthouse tower is about a foot in the water now. This is crazy because during Irma, my boat was on the ground. It is more like Charlie and Francis.

Neal, nice photo. This year we've had days on end with water up to 4-6" over our dock -- perhaps several times each month throughout the summer. Lots of east winds and offshore storms piling up the water. Right now, though, water level is about normal.

Got through the windy & noisy night OK. Winds not much more than 20 mph. Pretty constant rain, sometimes moderately heavy. Storm surge at high tide just to the bottom of the dock. Kept all the canvas up with no problem. I'd replaced all the snaps for the cockpit cover and they held just fine. Hope everyone else it OK. Eta is heading to JAX now.

Our marina in Longboat shut the power off as the water was 6” over the docks
Very windy but seems the boat came through ok hope everyone made it through also.

Sounds like your area came through without too much disruption. Watching how this storm was behaving, I think your area south of us had more impact. I am thinking 6" over the docks at Longboat is a 2-3 foot surge at least.

So far everything looks good in our area. Have talked to people local to the our area, their observation was that Clearwater didn't have very much impact.

I looked at one of our the marina cams last night at high tide, water was not up to the dock, so not a big surge.

Will have someone over to the boat in the next few hours will have conclusive info on any impact, but right now it looks good.

We got hit hard in Longboat Key , Fl last night. Ripping winds. torrential rain, and 3.8 ft storm surge. I had just had the cables replaced on my lift and the idiots put too much cable on. My max lift height was limited by how much cable my spools could take. Additionally, I had an automated mooring cover placed last week and the control box with the motor and battery lies on my dock. I'm hoping it is water tight. The tide came up to my hull but did not float my boat. I will head down there tomorrow to check on things.

BTW, the automated mooring cover was rock solid in 35 mph winds.

We had a boat from Hawk's Harbor come off the lift, and float into our canal. We went hunting, and found a group of people on the street looking at stuff, but didn't realize their boat had gone for a stroll.
Lost all of our pool pump equipment, as it is in a below ground pump house (thank you 1973)
We will be looking at that pretty hard this year.
