Official 290 Sundancer Thread

On another topic, I'm also considering a number of different MFD options. From 1x 12" to 3x 9". I'd love people to share pictures of their helm if they've upgraded from OEM equipment. Maybe I'll get some good ideas.

MFD?
What that?
Multi Function Display. An example is the Raymarine Axiom.
I never got around to installing one on my 290. I used an Ipad with Navioncs for navigation and left the instrumentation as is. But the Axiom was my most likely candidate.

@Tacoma290.... Funny you say this. I have 2 old C70's (one with radar) that I was planning to replace. I just put a tablet with Navionics in between them and use the C70 as backups. $200ish bucks and its a touchscreen GPS...cant beat it! Dont let me discourage you Pyro...I want to see your sweet install!

mdolesh,
Which app do you use?

Thanks!

I intended to install a tablet in the center of my dash this summer, but never got to it. Post pictures of your dash even with tablets. Curious to see your mounting and wiring. Perhaps even with a new fancy GPS, it may still make sense to run a tablet along side. Was it bright enough? The large arch helps quite a bit blocking sun at most angles. I'm somewhere in between a fancy decked out helm and practical :)

TN_Ryan posted his super nice twin 9" Axioms back in this post. Curious to see how a 12" fits if anyone has one.

Pyro - I cant seem to find a good picture, but I have 2 c70 plotters and I just used velcro to mount a Samsung tablet in the middle. Dead center on the dash behind the steering wheel. The top was basically at the bottom of the fuel gauge and I plugged a usb cable into the cigarette lighter. Worked great and was plenty bright. On a really hot day where the sun wasnt blocked by the arch the tablet did overheat but it came back to temp quickly.

Hello all, this is my first post to this forum although I've used this forum in the past to help me with a few issues. If I'm posting in the wrong spot or posting in the wrong way, my apologies. The question I have is I have a 2006 290DA and when I bought it, it came with a generic cockpit table. I'm looking for a table like the original that folds and fits under the back seat. Any clue where I could find one?

Hey guys,
Where is the hour meter supposed to be?
97 290DA single 454
There was no hour meter that I could find when I bought my boat which explains a lot. I'm installing one before I fire my rebuilt motor.

Mine is mounted in the D.C. breaker box in the engine compartment.

Thanks alot. I'll have to take a look, but I thought all my DC breakers were under all my switches by the helm and in the compartment by the door where the battery switch is. I've been all over my engine compartment, but I don't remember seeing any breaker box.

Your boat is newer so it may be somewhat different.

I take it it's not in the Tachometer like the 1998's?
It didn't appear to be, but I'll look again. I changed out the tach so it's sitting in the garage now. Thanks.

Edit: You were right Little Ducky. I just blew a pic up larger and there it was. Thanks a lot.

This 290 thread has been pretty quiet. What is everyone planning to do before launch? Here is my short list:

1. Install grease fittings on both outdrives to hopefully eliminate/mitigate the leaking steering pin.
2. Compound and wax - Smoove 1000 and then White Cloud for below rub rail. Smoove Bubble gum above.
3. Get my Genset working - $$$ - why is it such a POS?
4. Install Vessel View Mobile (need to replace 4 port hub with 6 port hub)
5. Rebed VHF antenna and somehow repaint it (havent figured this out yet)
6. Replace duck horn with dual trumpet horn =)
7. Anodes, bottom and drive touch up, waste filter, etc maintenance items

Anyone doing anything really cool?? Pyro...I know you have a lot going on. Send some pics!

Well, I'm getting near the end of my lengthy list of maintenance and upgrade items. Not that cool but what's remaining is to redo the boot stripe, refinish our teak swim platform and then wax and polish the hull. I'm really excited to get back on the water in April!
