With out a doubt I'll take it when offered.
I'm middle of the road generally healthy but 63, high blood pressure, managed. I hardly ever get sick. But I get my flu shot anyway.
I'm old enough to remember my parents rushing us four kids down to the local high school to get the Polo "sugar cubes". That's how they distributed it then. Polo was something that scared every parent to death every summer.

You can be sure by the time it gets distributed to the average citizen there will be the largest "trials". Shipboard military will be a priority due to the close proximity they work in as will all overseas military service members. And we didn't get much say in vaccinations, I have likely had every one imaginable, I still have a little yellow book full of vaccination dates and stamps.
And first responders will be high on the list, as will seniors in care facilities.

Let's see how the Brits fair taking the vaccine. I understand they have started giving it there.

I was in the Army for many years; we got what ever shots the man said to get. Anthrax; loved that crap. After that I did all manner of security and para military stuff world wide. Was operating in Kosovo for a while; got the work to saddle up and head to the Ivory Coast; what a shit hole. Anyway; had to get inoculated for everything for trench foot to dengue fever. Those were administered in some back alley clinic that side lined as a transmission over haul facility; shots were given by a nurse whos demeanor made you wonder if a fire fight was about to insure. Bottom line; getting a shot here in the states in order to keep me from contracting something that can sure as hell kill my old ass seems pretty much an insignificant issue.

I served 20 years. I remember getting lined up to walk down for a series of who knows what administered by air injection. Fun times.

Lots of issues starting to crop up around vaccination policy from a business perspective. The initial approval is going to be Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). The norms around requiring employees to be vaccinated, such as in healthcare jobs, likely won't apply. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which enforces laws that apply, needs to take a position but is just starting to grapple with the issue. It's probable that everything will be voluntary unless and until a regular license is granted to one or more vaccine manufacturers, and that probably won't happen any time soon. Once a vaccine is fully approved it can be mandated as a condition of employment.

Probably the same story around insurance; those regulators are also only starting to think about the issue. But, while penalties won't be allowed, employers and insurers can probably provide incentives such as breaks on insurance cost for employees who take the vaccine. I will go that route as soon as I can by picking up a bigger piece of the premium as I think it's the right thing to do.

My mother used to say pneumonia was a friend to old people. She was born in 1911. Covid has now replaced it. Most vaccines work to some extent. Will this one work. Probably, will the virus change yes, will the vaccine still work. I am glad I got a polio vaccine when I was young. Back then people did not question the good and bad of government directions. If this vaccine works and those that did not get continue to die they may wish they had got it. It is like a seat belt. You may never need it; but when you need it it will probably save your life.

Seat belts and life jackets. Just hope I am wearing one when the time comes to need it.

Try getting travel insurance. Covid will be covered but with very low limits. At first I was told I could only get it for 3 weeks then I was told it would only be good for 200K. Gave up no idea what is offered now

Bulletin from Snowbird Association confirms travel insurance puts 200K on Covid cases.

Like I said earlier, if the vaccine works and is 'proven' to have no serious side effects then I will get it. But nobody knows what the side effects might be 2 or 3 years from now. My oldest step-son is a detective so is on scene for just about every death his department gets. Other step-son is a supervisor at a manufacturing plant, son is a safety coordinator for a nationwide construction company and has been all over the country and my daughter is a financial advisor. She can sort of control who she is around but a few weeks ago a few people in her office were sick so they all got tested and she came back negative. The other 3 are all working as they have been. My best friends daughter got it a few months ago. She is about 19 and in good shape. Said it just felt like having the flu.

I will say we had a little 'scare' tonight but seems to be nothing. Went to a local restaurant tonight and sat down and ordered. There was a police officer walking out the door when we got there but that i common there. When he came back in it seemed odd. Looked behind us and there is a lady on the floor then the paramedics came in. Started getting nervous then and they wheeled her right past our table. I know the owner so when I went up to pay he told me that the lady had hurt her leg yesterday at home then fell in the restaurant and couldn't stand up. We both left our masks on until they got her out of there.

Ill wait and see myself. I wouldn't be surprised if my employer will make vaccination mandatory (Community College District) since we teach face to face. We were back for the fall with 30 students meeting 8 hours a day five days a week and not one student or staff member came down with the Vid. I don't usually even get a flu shot and rarely do I get sick. I just don't hang around large groups of strangers so I tend to think that my risk is on the low side. If it is offered and convenient I wont have a problem taking a vaccine but it will be 6 plus months down the road before the tier I'm in in Ca will be offered the vaccine. Funny thing, Any Two-Some Newsome announced today that there will be strict protocols in force to make sure the rich and famous can't cut in line to get a vaccine before their tier. Give me a break!! He let 400 million in unemployment benefits be paid to prison inmates this year! protections my ass!

Wow. Shocking to read so many here are sheep. So much information available about vaccines yet people will put something in their body without knowing what it is due to fear.

It’s disappointing to say the least to realize that people well-to-do enough to afford a luxury like a Sea Ray are so ignorant, ill-informed, uneducated and in some cases just plain stupid.

I’ll offer this morsel of information
only because I’m sure the cancel mob here can’t handle the truth.

There is no single vaccine. There are several and they all act differently. Not all vaccines are suitable for all age groups and risk profiles.

I suggest some of you should put down your parts catalogs, spend less time browsing brochures and go read the research about these “vaccines” you’re about to take.

Keep in mind 10’s of thousands of people take the flu vaccine every year. We still have the flu and many still die from the simple flu.

Good luck.

You just be you El Capitan. You and all the other anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists that this is just all some kind of hoax on the entire world. And to imply that someone deciding to take the vaccine is "ignorant, ill-informed, uneducated and in some cases just plain stupid" is childish and ridiculous.

Sorry, but you do not know the "truth" about these vaccines. Everything you say is your opinion, and you are by far in the minority in the world. That does not make you the one with the vision and knowledge that the rest of the world lacks. So don't get the vaccine. That is your choice. And you can express your opinion without insulting the rest of us that don't share your view.

Why are people demeaned as “anti-Vaxxers” when they simply prefer not to get a flu shot?

As far as I know, my family is up to date on all of their vaccines. We’re pretty sure we’ve already had covid. It’s blowing through the upper Midwest at lightening speed right now. Pretty much everyone I know has had it or was around someone who had it including ourselves.

So I guess if we’re part of the herd, and decide not to take the vaccine, we’re like the Hutterites and are anti-vaxxers.....

Only two months ago, the likes of Kamala Harris said they wouldn’t be taking this Trump vaccine. My how the anti-vaxxers have changed.

Actually, they might want to charge you a boat load extra for not vaccinating and then play the odds. It's like a casino -- they will only win, and win big.
Yup, that was one of the alternatives I thought they would love. But I like the denial of coverage for COVID non-vaxers. It makes them put their money where there mouths are and likely will expose the ones that are being hypocritical. The true "believers" won't vaccinate anyway if given a choice.

Hmmm....seems we hear this alot from the lefties. Don't agree with their opinions and you are the devil

I would not put you in the "anti-vaxxer" group then. You are not against vaccines, you are just skeptical about maybe the level of testing of this one? That is what Harris was saying, and that is what many people are saying, both republican and democrat. Its not about "if", its about "when". And Harris was obviously just being political at the time. Her comment, in context, was that Trump was trying to rush a vaccine in and shorten the testing/approval. She did not trust his process, so would not take a vaccine that he had pushed through. So like you, she is not an anti-vaxxer either.

COVID is more dangerous than the flu. I have never gotten a flu vaccine. I am not worried about dying from the flu. I am not worried about dying from COVID either. I am 57 and healthy and fit. But I have an 80yo mother that we spend a lot of time more time with since my father passed away last year. She gets the flu vaccine. My wife has MS. Its an immune disease and when she gets sick, her MS flares as well. She gets the flu vaccine each year. I probably should for both of them and may start this year. And I will absolutely get a COVID vaccine as soon as can get one. I will do it for them, and for the others in our world that may not be as lucky as I am with being healthy.

I do think that there will be a natural "herd immunity factor" that will help end this. If herd immunity was not real, any one of the plagues in the pre-vax years would have wiped out the entire population in infected areas. Even when millions died, not everyone died.

But this is not the middle ages. We have vaccines and should use them to minimize the number of deaths before we hit that herd level needed to really knock this thing down. Fewer deaths cannot be a bad thing. 1,500,000 deaths worldwide so far. Over 250,000 in the US. Current run rate somewhere between 2,500 and 3,000 every single day.

Lots of "lefties" on CSR but have not heard that devil comment from anyone in any of the more heated exchanges over the past years.

I did hear from my Republican relatives in the US that they thought Bill Clinton was the devil though. I thought that was pretty funny then. I thought they were joking. They were not. They were very serious, but they are fundamental Catholics and very pro-life.

Our local paper just published a map of the city (1.2 million residents) shown all the care homes with infection numbers, recovered and dead. Death rate in care homes is high compared to national average. I went to the bank yesterday. I ask everyone I meet if they know anyone that has got the virus. This person age 35 had it and her entire family from grand parent down to her children. Non died, all recovered she said she had a head ache for 6 weeks and still can not taste or smell anything. If you are elderly, ill and susceptible to getting sick you basically seem to have a choice get vaccinated or die. If you are in good health you have a choice get sick to some degree and live or get a vaccine and perhaps not get ill. Those that line up for the first vaccine are like those that buy a new model car it may or may not work as expected; but it will get you to the grocery store.

My 'devil' comment wasn't meant literally. Just that if we don't agree with their opinions then we are horrible, stupid people. I'm sure you saw the comment earlier involving eating something out of a bag? That's the kind of attitude I'm talking about. Just seems like lately the lefties always think their opinion is fact and if you don't agree then you are the bad one. Not just from that posted but in general.
