Installing bow thruster 260 Sundancer

That size boat a boat hook is cheaper. Never even considered a bow thruster on that size boat way to easy to maneuver. Docked it in all kinds of weather and conditions.

Good that you are so good at handling a boat!
I have two boat hooks but still want a bow thruster.
1. I can afford it.
2. I think it’s fun to upgrade the boat.
3. I will install it myself to have something to do with the boat during the winter.

Yes, I think so. I will examine it more carefully in the spring

On the 280 the anchor locker is completely sealed from the cabin area, I would assume the 260 is the same. In any event, water from the anchor locker would have to go through the storage space under the vee berth, and that looked dry from the photo. If you haven't noticed the storage area being wet it probably isn't coming from there. Also isn't the bow storage area sealed from the work area?

Are there port and starboard storage compartments on either side of the work space? It looks like it from the photos. These also would show water if there was anything dripping from say leaking bow rail mounts, or portholes. And they also should have been sealed as well.

My hunch is you may be looking at a couple decades of accumulated condensation.

Thanks for your tips. The storage compartments on starboard and port side are bone dry and have no traces of previous leakage. I had water in the space under the vee berth and I have read some where that if you have water there it probably coming from the anchor locker but the water stayed there. I will look more closely for the leak during the spring. I agree with you that under the floor it’s probably accumulated condensation.

Don’t forget to look at the hatch above the vee berth. If you don’t leave the vee berth made up with bedding, or frequently use the vee berth, a rain leak in the hatch could go unnoticed.

I have checked it and there is no leakage.

We’re getting off course, but here goes. Have you checked the bow rail connections? These might be a source off leakage getting into the vee berth storage area. It’s a stretch, but may be worth checking. There was a CSR member, DaveS, who was a 260 DA owner who among many topics, researched and wrote about bow rail water intrusion. You might research some of his postings

All electric installation finished. I will updating when I do the installation of the tunnel but it will be during the spring because it to cold to do the job now.

Strong blowing wind on a 26, may be too much for the bow thruster to compensate. Looking good.

With all due respect WHY not? I have had lots of RVs during the years but now I have this boat. I have driven different boats for many years so I’m familiar with that for example this type

Combat boat 90 are easy to drive but my 260 isn’t easy when I have wind from the side when I go to dock.

Do you have a reversing camera on your car or other technical aids? If you have it why?
Maybe you should cycle instead! ;-)

nice combat boat. bet there are a lot of Captains of aircraft carrier that cant dock a 26' in a good breeze. your point is badly mistaken, misinformed and useless.
