We've been boat-less for 5 years now. We fixed that this morning when we purchased our next boat. We have been all over the place with our search for boats. Meaning we started looking at 26-29' bowriders, looked at several 31-40' Aft cabins and Sundancers and then 26-30' Sundancers. Our price range has been all over the place too.

Ultimately we think we decided on the best of all things considering the way we think we'll use a boat for the next few years. This is the first 280 I've looked at in person and I really didn't think I would like it. I went to see it and a newer 260 more to humor her and keep us on the path to a 340-370 Dancer. I underestimated how much I'd like the 280. And the condition of this boat is very good. It's single engine (6.2 B3) which will be cheap to run. Has a generator. Tons of room in the bilge to work on everything. And it comes with an almost new trailer which will help with maintenance and other improvement projects.

I'll post a few pics one we start moving in. 20201220_161542.jpg 20201220_161609.jpg

It sure looks nice in those pictures. I have always liked the 280 single engine for just the reason you stated. Had a dock neighbor that had a ?2003 I think 280 DA. They took it every where, All through the Keys a trip to the Bahamas and Dry Tortugas. They really enjoyed it. You will too. GOD speed. JC

Thanks, y'all! We're excited about it. I'm trying to just take in everything about it. My personal tendency is to take a great boat and make it my forever boat...and then sell it and buy a different boat and make that boat my forever boat...very expensive. Great for the people that buy my boats though!

I moved from a 24’ cuddy to a 2001 280 last year also. For us, it is just big enough but not too big. It handles very well. Congratulations. I am sure you will enjoy it.

I'm hanging out on it right now. Every time I see it I'm glad this is the boat we bought!

Congrats, we've had a 2003 280 Dancer for about five years and its the best boat we ever owned. Be sure and check out the Official 280 Sundancer Forum. It pages and pages of the best information you can get about your new ride.

Sounds good, I'll go find it.

Funny, I was looking for it the other day and didn't see it. I still can't find it.

Congrats we had a 2003 280 Dancer for 13 years. My salesmen told me it was the toughest boat to move people out of. We finally moved up to a 320 just for the bed and the V Drives. The 280 still has a sporty feel but is big enough to spend time on. You may find the 6.2 a tad underpowered but I have driven one it reminded me of the 270 with the 454. The generator is a great addition. Could not tell if you have camper canvas or not but it is a great addition.

We have the full camper canvas and I agree, it's nice to have. We can enjoy the boat on sunny 45 degree days and be very comfortable. It's a bit slow but it doesn't use much fuel and we're on a land-locked lake...so nowhere to go really anyway.

Congrats! I just bought a 2000 310DA. I'm currently camping out on it and working on stuff.

http://clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/2001-280da-switch-panels.102330/ Simmer down now, remember, if it 'aint broke don't fix it! I've been working with the triage of projects on my 20 yr boat and sometimes I need to reel myself in and focus on fixing broken stuff first. Who knows what you'll find during the discovery phase......kirk out

Totally agree. These switch panels seem to be a pretty common issue though. So having a plan ahead of time is more my thought process. For what they cost to replace and their lack of reliability there's no way I'd replace one with the same lousy panel.
