Need some positive thoughts - update 3/12

Prayers sent Scott, positive thoughts and attitude will win over many of life’s hurdles.. My brother also a kidney cancer survivor of 18 years, always said that !!
 
Scott I've been reading your posts and contributions on CSR for years. You are a true asset to the CSR family. Sorry to hear this news, but you got this. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Here's to many many more years of reading your posts.
 
Scott, I have been a member of CSR for 11 years and as many have mentioned you have always been a staple around here. I remember when you took your 340 from Michigan City to Mackinaw overnight at trawler speed because at the time it was what you had to do, to get your family “up north”. Point being you have shared many of your adversities openly with this group all of which you have overcome. You come across as a very determined individual and this shitty diagnosis will be just another one of life’s curve balls that you will, with a doubt, successfully navigate through. Many prayers to you during this tough time but you got this sir.

Still trying to come to terms with what it means to have cancer. I find myself questioning every little ache and pain now. However, I deeply appreciate the kind words and support from all of you. It definitely does help and in reading over your responses I find myself lifted, so again, thank you from the deepest part of my heart.

Thanks everyone, I deeply appreciate the kind wonders and thoughts.

I met with Dr. Perry at Chicago's Northwestern Medical Center today. Surgery is scheduled for January 14th. He is cautiously optimistic that the cancer is contained to my right kidney, and based on the size of the tumor, there is a decent chance of saving part of the kidney.

Thanks again for all the positive thoughts and prayers, they do make a difference.

That's very good news Scott. Have a friend who dealt with this issue many years ago and he had successful surgery maybe 35 years ago. Sounds like you are getting good advice and will be receiving care at an excellent hospital. That is all good. Wishing you the best.

Good news on the scheduled surgery... as many have said, this is one you can beat!
