That is true, and Blueone, its a major problem for the oil sands of northern Alberta. But keep in mind that our "tree huggers" also just about shut it down at our end. I was shocked that the chief tree hugger, Justin Turtle, decided to let it proceed by investing in it to get it over the goal line. I was just as shocked that Trump himself didn't kill it under his America First policies.

But you guys are lucky that the greening of the energy industry is at least coming at a time when the alternatives are much cheaper than when our Ontario Liberals launched our "Green deal". We are saddled with insanely high power contracts. Current utility scale solar is coming in at about $0.06 per kwh now. Ontario signed utility scale solar supply contracts at CAD$0.84/kwh. Our wind farms were built under CAD$0.43/kwh contracts. Both well over 10 times the cost today. That is the cost of early adoption of evolving green technology.
 
Well shouldnt we have been compromising for the last 4 years ,no the dems wouldnt compromise on anything without strings made of dollar signs for thier state .They did manage to see eye to eye on raises though.And now stinky joe is going to let the federal employees bargain for their income .I think joe should have to fight for everything and win nothing,as long as GOP comes to work the dems will lose often because they will be out spending your money.

Blue one, in answer to both questions:
I was pissed off because I actually argued that half the U.S. could not possibly be so suckered-in by Trump. I was wrong and hated that. We have spent some terrific vacations in the U. S. over a lifetime and have met many wonderful people. The reality of Trump baffled me. I'm over it.

What I'm not over is that the U.S. that I once looked up to and admired, is now shattered like a piece of precious crystal. You let Trump do that. I guess I'm grieving. Can all the kings horses and men put America back together, AGAIN?

Actually the democrats did the most damage. For 4 years they were so entrenched in making Trump look bad that they were the ones bringing up hate and racism. They pushed the racism 'revolt' to cause divide within the country. Follow the money trail. Pelosi said before Trump was even sworn in that they were going to initiate impeachment proceedings. She was hell-bent from day one on making him look bad no matter what. Even to the point of hurting people by refusing to sit and negotiate over anything. It was HER way or the highway. She flat out refused to negotiate at all on anything. Trump and republicans tried to meet in the middle several times to try to get deals done and she refused to budge then they blamed the republicans and Trump for not signing.

The dems did everything in their power for 4 years to cause havoc in this country and with the media on their side it was all blamed on the republicans

It may have been an illusion but American was once more cohesive. You didn't have the divisiveness and angry polarization. Now you have Repubicans hating and blaming Democrats and vice-versa. You have Proud Boys and Oath Keepers against the BLM movement, evangelical, right-wing extremists against liberal progressives, the entitled rich against those struggling to survive, the ignorant denying the ravages of Covid while 400,000 have died of it, those fighting for democracy against those that propose a Trump monarchy, the poorly educated creating conspiracy theories while science creates vaccines to save them, Antifa (if their is such a thing) against the Qanon wackos, and it goes on... That is a fractured country by any measure.

Sadly not the case for a long while. According to a recent survey by U.S. News and the Wharton School of Business the top three greatest countries are #1 Switzerland, #2 Canada and #3 Japan. The U.S. came in at #7. It is no coincidence that the best countries to live in are also among the safest. The U.S. ranks #13 amongst the most dangerous countries, alongside the Phillipines and Myanmar, because of political climate and gun violence. As for education and health care, #26 and #27, in spite of the U.S. spending more on health than any other developed country. Then there's the list of most dynamic economies:

The U.S. performed better by most metrics over 30 years ago. There's a lot of work to get that performance back and denial doesn't get the job done.
