So it looks like it's time to strip and repaint the bottom paint on our 440. Luckily it doesn't look like there are any blisters at this point but won't know for sure until it's blasted. Got a quote from my yard but I think they are really expensive but thought I'd get some opinions-

1- Block boat outside for bottom blast, move boat and block inside for
new barrier and paint, prep for paint- $522.50 (seems reasonable)

2- Soda blast bottom - does not include any repairs of voids or imperfections that may
need to be fixed- $2600 (seems excessive- first place I called I was quoted $1000)

3- Barrier coat- $462 per coat labor, $275 x 2.5 of the 2 gal kit - Seahawk tuff stuff (going with 2000e instead but tuff stuff 2 gallon kit is only $200 or less)

4- Hydrocoat- again $462 per coat labor, $310 a gallon ( standard not eco- I can buy it for $180 a gallon or less all day long or eco for under $300)

5- They also had $100 for supplies and a gallon of solvent wash- seems reasonable

Thoughts? Think I may just have them pull it, Have my guy blast it and prep/paint it myself. $1848 for 4 coats of paint? I'd like another coat of each and can't see spending that much in labor for 4 coats.

My 320 was $3600 3 years ago. Soda blast, 2 coats of Petit protect, 2 coats of Hydrocoat eco.

Can I interject. None of this makes sense - to me. I on iPhone so I don’t get all info like pc. So I don’t know size / age boat. BUT I have always used Woolsey an ablative paint, named changed to Seahawk this year. All this you talkin about, I never done, on 6 searays over 30 years. It ain’t your family room. Slap on paint that worn away and apply. Thin 20% and 1 gallon good for a 25 -27’. If you used a hard paint like Interlux you have to sand off the residual useless paint. But even then, slap on some ablative and go on.

Here a pic of my boat bottom after painting last spring. 1 quart should do nice come April.

I paid about $44/foot for glass media blasting.

Painting my bottom was about $700 last season, labor and paint for a 34’ boat.

So..... what was the total cost quoted?

Thanks all- We are in a slip late April to mid Oct- fresh water only. Total quote was $6972 all said and done.

I just had my bottom blasted and painted for 4900.00 After blasting there were a lot of voids that needed to be filled with epoxy, three coats of barrier and two coats of MicronCSC.

If you don't mind me asking- where did you get the work done? Looks like you may be in my general area.

I had my 410 done last year up in Charlevoix. Complete blast, prime and paint, the cost was 6K. They were able to tent the boat inside and use a system to evacuate the dust so no move was necessary.
