500/520 DB official thread

Gentlemen,

The base on the vacuum cleaner is rusted. Has anyone ever had this issue and is there a replacement part?

thanks,
Steve
Keep an eye on the water manifold fittings. They are known to leak over time and are right above the vacuum which might be why it rusted out.

Yeah. First thing I looked at but there doesn’t appear to be any water stains from the water manifold.....

Either way I’d like to fix the vacuum base
I think you are going to have to buy a whole new vacuum. I would be surprised if you can buy just the canister.

All good. I researched Beam, they don’t have the part and went to a local dealer. Couldn’t get it. I figured one of you studs has a source.....

Here’s another one. The mirror on the back of the starboard stateroom door is broken anyone have any ideas on that one???

What size fresh water pump does everyone have? My pump is 2016 but 1.5 gph and the water flow sucks

So at the boat today and I notice a little water collection as soon as I enter the engine room on the port side kind of under the A/C pump area. So I start up the beast and notice there is a pin hole in the stainless steel exhaust pipe. It would spit out a little water every 10 or 15 seconds. So anybody have any thoughts?

I assume you are talking about the exhaust riser. Had to replace them on our GB a couple years ago. Fabricated by a shop in Stuart, FL. Not cheap but good for another 10+ years they say. Salt water combined with hot exhaust is not a friendly environment. The pin holes will be much larger soon and you don't want an ER full of salty exhaust water spraying around (or worse). Fix em when they start weeping like your is. Routine maintenance in salt environment unfortunately.

Replaced both of my 8"x 3' Exhaust Tubes this winter. Starboard side was missing the bonding wire and that one leaked first, last August. Assumed the missing bond allowed a scratch or week spot to start corroding however the starboard side (which was bonded) starting leaking this fall. Sort a fast drip from both of them.
I loosened the pipe clamps last summer and twisted the starboard side to put the leak on top, let it dry and sealed with 5000. That stopped the leak and it would have lasted a long time I suspect but once the port side starting leaking I decided to replace both.
Each tube was $385 from DeAngelo Marine. You should be able to find the Part number stamped on each tube for an exact replacement.

I had the engines serviced about 18 months ago. I need to look as one of the risers is stainless and I think the other is fiberglass...they might have replaced one and not the other. Need to look at the receipt.

I believe Gimme Time replaced his 8” x 3’ Exhaust Tubes with fiberglass. Can you send a picture of the fiberglass exhaust when you get a chance? Just curious how they look and the cost difference if you don’t mind.

Thanks.

Sure thing. Give me a day or so. In the meantime I’m going to pull the service invoice.

The risers are on the hot side of the exhaust; they should be stainless with insulation that looks like fiberglass. Like others I've replace both the risers, the stainless 8 inch piping and silicone couplers. DeAngelo is a bit south of Jupiter and they will get you fixed up; give Miguel Soto (954) 368-6187 a call. @rlynch03 is right, many of us have found the bonding wire missing on that pipe which is the reason it gets pin holes.
