Mercury 7.6L V12 600HP Verado Outboard

I guess this will be the deathnail for the seven outboards. Will Volvo want to compete with this monster?

Seven is gone, right? My understanding is they did not build from scratch, tried to take an existing engine and mount it as an outboard (that’s crude, but I think the gist is right). Have you seen Diesel OXE? Outboard diesels. Only up to 300 so far, targeting the commercial uses first.

Volvo already announced last year that they are shutting down Seven Marine.

No differnt than pods.......but these can tilt out of the water when not in use! Will work really good with the joystick controls most of the multi outboard boats have now

So all of the mechanical reliability of pods combined with the corrosion resistance of "just tilt them out of the water".

I can’t wait to see the specs on the inevitable “R” version and how far they can push this block.

Think of the possibilities of these on a large "venture" style cruiser - easier to hide and rig if they dont have to turn

These pics were taken at Lake X... SLX400 with 3 600’s and the formula 43 with 4

Went on a 38 with triples at St Pete boat show. $900k

Really made be regret not trying harder in life

At first I thought the leaning post on swim platform was hokey but after leaning on it a while I can see where it could my favorite spot when backed into a beach.

Any first person experience with pods?
Capt. Rusty and I ran a new L590 from Merritt Island up to Palm Coast probably four years ago. That boat has triple Zeus drives. The only time I wasn't at the helm was backing into the slip at Palm Coast and trying to hold the boat at a drawbridge with a lot of current (my inexperience with a joystick). Maneuvering is impressive and effortless; no issues whatever backing in or pulling along side in the locks. Is it as mobile as my 52? Yes, absolutely, but with a bit less authority.

Good point Mike, but Merc pods suck so I will be interested to see how these play out. I guess you never have progress without change.
Apologies, i should have been more clear.

That's my whole point. I've never been a big fan of pods.

Tom, did you try using the skyhook while at the drawbridge?

No but I did at the entrance to the locks and it's really a nice feature. On my boat I'm constantly fidgeting on keeping the boat in place for that 30 or 40 minutes waiting.

Sorry, I didn’t mean any disrespect. Suck was probably too harsh. I don’t have them on my boat but I know a few dock mates that have them and have had major issues with them. One with a Sabre lost most of the summer do to an on going issue with one of the pods that the Mercury guys couldn’t repair for him until the end of the summer.

Sorry to hear about your dockmates problems. Losing boat time during the season sucks regardless of the reason why.
