The official '99-'04 260DA Sundancer thread

I haven't done it but I'd out it where your top arrow is. The bottom area is where things often get stored and would block the light

Okay getting my 260 cleaned up I decided to install LED light strip. I wanted to know should I put it top or bottom (see arrows) also if you got LED light strip already installed where did you put it, and tips or tricks?

Why not just put top and bottom with two controls? If RGB you could even control top and bottom colors separately.

Hi Guys,

Looking for some help. I have a 2003 260DA. Bought it last September and we are just now getting some time on it. We noticed the other day that the hatch riser arms are missing. Taylor Made does not stock this product anymore. I believe the part is called Ultra II riser arm. Wondering if anyone knows who may still have this part or if there is an alternative? Maybe I will have to replace the entire hatch?

Thanks for the help

Ryan

These worked great for me.

thanks for this. I was actually referring to the 20”x20” ceiling hatch, but my transom locker and needs the gas struts replaced!

Another question( definitely getting to know this boat!)...

Can anyone tell me if this is a set-up for a transom shower? This is in my transom locker beside the hose spigot. I’ve hooked up to it but no water. I’ve traced the piping and looks like it’s coming from the water heater. #confused!

Ryan, that doesn't look original. Can you trace the pipes (both of them) better?

I’ll have get in a little deeper. They come off the hot water tank and go up in behind the blower hose toward the stern on the port side. I’ll need to channel my inner Cirque de Soleil

Possibly it's a hot water washdown - but I don't understand why there's two. The hoses that go up behind the blower and then disappear... that is most likely just the path the hoses are taking to the stern storage locker. Of more interest is where/how they plumb into the system. Still another possibility is that these were somehow used for winterizing... but that's a lot of effort to install when there are simpler ways.

What does the person you bought it from say about it?

I don't know what you mean by "I've hooked up to it".

Actually, that bilge is one of the most user-friendly bilges you will find in these boats! I loved the size of the bilge and how easy it was to access things in my 260DA.

Unfortunately, it must have been the original owner who installed this modification. I’m the 3rd owner and the guy we bought it from has no idea what it is for.

I hook in to it with a quick connect and no water flows. There is a valve where it Ts off which is open, but still nothing from these outlets. Strange. I’ll keep digging when I’m back down there.
Thanks for the quick responses. Makes me feel better that this isn’t obvious to anyone else!

Once we see pictures or a better description as to where/how each line is plumbed in, I'm sure we can easily figure it out.

Do you have hot and cold water coming out all of your other faucets?

Wet pleasure
I have a 7.4 (454) in my boat and can confirm the need for 3 inch riser in the exhaust.

This particular forum/thread is a bit hard to follow. Almost needs sub-threads or something. Throwing another topic into the mix. I'd like to hear from you all about solutions (and photos) of good fender stowage options on this year/model. Anyone? I like to have 4 fenders available (figuring that is common) and also like the larger ~9.5" diameter ones. I've been thinking about the holders that mount to the bow railing, but they are sorta pricey for the good ones. It's also a little tricky to know if they'd fit OK and/or get in the way.

This boat came with the bow rail fender mounts, first boat I had with them, prior they just rolled around in cockpit. Yes, worth the money. Pic attached

There's already so many forums - adding subforums to all of the "boat specic" threads would be mind boggling. Read through it and you'll be up to date.

I kept mine in the transom locker as I didn't like the idea of storing them up on the bow as it was more of a hassle to get to and it would block some view. Make a mock-up of the fenders and place them on the rail to see how you like it.

Not that it's a bad thing, but 9.5" fenders are overkill for a smaller boat. But if you want to use ones that big, yeah, you're going to run into storage problems.

Can you fit two of them under the aft bench?

Hmm, all good points. Thanks! Would be great to see some holders mounted to the relatively low railing of the 260DA.

Hi everyone - quick vacuflush question for the crew here. I have a 2001 260 and just splashed my boat this past weekend. When I filled up the water tank and turned on the water pump, I noticed a big leak coming from the underside of the vacuflush foot pedal. Upon closer inspection, it appears that I developed a crack in this screw cap below the pedal. I did some research but didn't seem to be able to find just a replacement cap, but I am seeing a lot of complete water valve assemblies at a range of prices. Can I go aftermarket and should I replace the entire valve, or just swap on a new cap? This is my first issue with the vacuflush system. Thanks!

Regarding fender storage, our 260 came with the baskets up front on both sides but they blocked way more of my front view than I liked so I removed them (BTW, 8.5" fenders are plenty big for this boat). What I did was tie fender lines to both ends of the fenders and attach both the top and bottom of the fender to the side bow rails just in front of the windshield with Taylor Made Quick Draw adjustable fender hangers. I can draw the fenders up horizontally against the bow into the bow rail and tuck them in there. Works great and doesn't block my view.
