Not mine. Boat is for sale on FB. Texted the owner to ask permission to post this pic :) Says it’s well supported from below, did the installation himself and was 12k done.

Yep, saw this boat myself and talked to the owner, he keeps it in the same city as mine. Was impressively build and is definately well supported but that's a lot of money for a dinghy lift.

Looks like a really well engineered system ...I’d love to see the bottom support system for it.

Hey Guys, does anyone know anything about Faria gauges ? I really need to upgrade and replace. Im thinking about making new panels (except for the toggle panel) out of carbon fiber. Thoughts?

Looks good, bit expensive. Doesn't appear to be removable when not required. I pulled the trigger, having a new swim platform installed w/o the fender holders allowing for a davit system of my choice.

Happy New Year to all!!

I have a soft spot in the floor on the starboard side of my salon. I found that the three small oval windows were leaking which caused the problem. I removed and re-bedded the windows and have not seen any more moisture. I have already removed the carpeting. Any suggestions on the best way to remove the plywood flooring so I can replace it.
Text me, I'll send you some pictures of my salon stringer replacement project to let you know what you're in for.

OK - I need you to settle an argument for me. Right after buying our EC, we found the bow cover and started using it. However my wife says we're doing it wrong (sure that surprises you). She thinks both straps should attach to the bottom. I install with one on the bottom, one on the rail. Seems like the straps are too long to do otherwise. For those of you who use bow covers - how do you install? Could not find a picture on the web

My 10 cents? If attached to the top of hand rail it would make a nice awning for birds to go under and crap all over your boat, or make nest, two if there are no poles supporting it in the midle to let water run off you'll end up with a nice big swimming pool in the front of your boat as the water collects, three could be a sail if the wind gets under it during stormy weather. My vote would be low and tight.

I need to replace the water heater in my '94. I have read the posts on the subject and think we are going to go with the removing the manifold approach. The question I have is what did you replace the original water heater with? I've contacted a couple of dealers and I'm being told the unit is no longer available. I have found a few 10 gallon heaters but they are larger in overall size and I am concerned about the tight fit Appreciate any thoughts. Thanks
Take some pictures when you have things tore apart. I have same project to do this spring. One option to consider is, it might be easier to remove engine. I've removed an engine in 1 hour, had it running in 1.5 after reinstalled. No need to realigne with drive shaft because I was carful not to disrupt 4 mounting nuts. Your'e going to have to remove the helm seat either way so removing the engine will only add the extra step of taking out the two aluminum supports above engine on the deck. If you secure position of the 4 lower engine mount nuts, so alignement isnt lost, it might be easier than standing on your head to take manifold off and replumb new heater. Plus it allows you to clean the engine, change plugs, clean bildge etc....

Any idea what mm bulbs interior would be in my 1993 400?[/QUOTE
I looked but couldn't find any old bulbs. Replaced my interiors with LED fixtures. Was fairly straightforward and not that expensive. You should probably consider.

Hey, guys -
Anybody know what's on the other end of this hose projecting thru the forward bilge bulkhead? I just visited the boat this week and noticed what appears to be oil apparently leaking from the hose in the pic. I can't imagine what it could be, particularly since it seems it's the source of the oil. Ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Which bilge is that?

Looks like the fwd bilge in the engine compartment. Steps from cockpit to cabin are on the other side. Best guess would be an overflow from the shower sump which is about 2-3’ fwd from there. Doesn't explain the oil though.

Lift up the bottom step and see if you can find that hose, and trace it fwd.

Under the step is another bilge pump - which should have its own thru hull port side. Then you have the shower sump fwd of that, which collects shower, and A/C condensate.

Should be easy enough to find/trace with a flashlight.

Thanks, guys, for the quick responses. Mark is correct. It is the fwd bilge in the eng compartment. Between the 2 center stringers and the hose is projecting from the bulkhead at the forward end of the bilge. Also correct about the steps from the cockpit. I also guessed the shower sump, but we typically run fresh water, not 10W-40, thru the shower and the other faucets on board.

Maybe it's from somewhere else, but the evidence of a trail from the hose to the oil is ALMOST too clear to deny.

I plan to have a look under those steps, but I'm in Atlanta and the boat is about 2.5 hours away on Lake Guntersville in NE Alabama. So, when I need to do boat work, I try to have a plan in place before setting out.

Anyway, thanks again for the quick responses and, if anyone else has any other ideas, I'd like to hear them.

Something I noticed doesnt make sense. If you look close at the tube ID it doesn't look like the dirty spunk dripped out of it. I'm also wondering if it is really oil or some other gooey substance. I'd check straight above to see if something dripped down. The AC water circulation pump is right above that loacation...

So, I've decided the wx at the boat is good enough to go there later today or tomorrow and see whether I can discover the source and nature of the problem. I'll reply again when I know more.

Thanks for all the ideas. Greg, you're correct, it's not certain that the hose is the source, but I can't imagine where else it could have come from.

One other idea. The front of the engines have their own bilge area per’se with a drain into the area you are looking at. The drain is like a plastic sleeve molded into the stringer with glass. You can see it in your picture. If oil is leaking from your port engine and dribbled its way into that center bulge, it would give the impression that it came from the hose.

Mark, is properly correct in that the port engine is the contributor . There is a drain hole in the stringer for the engine area.
