Official 330 Express Cruiser / 340 Amberjack 1997-2003 Thread

For Florida, this is a good option with open windows , NJ it is always cold in the ocean in the morning. I saw your post about "two stainless steel pipes" , I contacted the manufacturer and they never got a response.

There was a CSR member with an Amberjack that installed underwater exhausts and glassed over the original exhaust ports. Greatly reduced noise at cruise and all but eliminated any station wagon effect. I just can't seem to find a couple of bronze exhaust fittings anywhere...

Correction - Founder Pounder sells them for $995 each! OUCH!!

Bronze exhaust fittings they are all made in China, I found a manufacturer for $ 140 apiece, at least you need to buy 30 pieces

Have any of you guys replace the salon sink faucet? If so which one did you guys go with.

I’ve never changed my transmission fluid I was told if it isn’t burnt leave it alone. That never really sat well with me so I’m curious has anybody drained their trannys and what is the process and which fluid did you go with.

I changed my port tranny fluid when I first got the boat it had a slightly darker color than a starboard . I sucked the fluid out through the dipstick tube with a drill pump and then refilled it with dex 3 I believe . the following season I did the starboard side, that fluid was fine but changed it anyway same procedure

I heard you have to drain the transmission cooler then drain from dipstick then from filter?

The tranny cooler will drain back to the transmission there is no filter on the velvet drive 5000 as far as I know drain the tranny fluid through the dipstick tube

I’m thinking there is a drain on them; I thought I saw a drain on the bottom of it. I had my port motors transmission out twice this past year. Once to get it rebuilt and again to have to rebuilt properly; had to pay to have motor pulled each time.

Yes there is a drain plug at the very bottom starboard side that is not easily accessible. very simple to use oil extraction tool, drill pump etc. right through the dipstick

How often should the transmission oil be changed? What filter is there ?

There is no filter on a 5000 Velvet Drive , I’ve changed it twice since I’ve owned I do see recommendations for changing it every year I think that’s overkill I pull the dipstick every other trip I go out and always check the level and color of the fluid it’s still fresh and pink i’m not a huge fan of messing around with transmissions if they work well and the fluid is good I leave it alone
