New Sea Ray/BMW Collaboration

I have a 2013 Lexus ES350 with 181,000 that has never had a repair...only oil, brakes and tires.... oh and spark plugs at 100,000. As PM.... the car owes me nothing. I can’t justify replacing it
And THAT is what a luxury car ownership experience should be like.
I still remember the day I was in my BMW dealer dropping off my X5 for the 5th time in the first 6 months I owned it. I told the Service consultant that it was the worst new car I have ever owned and I said it was worse than the Gran Cherokee I had owned for 5 years.

He "snooted" (is that a real word?), in the way that only a BMW brainwashed employee can do:
"Sir, a Jeep is not nearly as sophisticated a vehicle as a BMW"
Keep in mind that was 6 months into my ownership of a $75,000 premium luxury SUV.

In Boat Test's review capt Steve says you have to punch the triples to full throttle to get the boat up on plane in a timely manner. I mean it is a 20k lb boat.

I saw that. Still can't believe 2 400s wouldn't be adequate. Its a 50 mph boat with triples.
2 is much less maintenance in my mind. I would go cc before I would buy this I think.

I think it would be hard to find a 39' CC with Twins. Now with the new 600hp V-12's I could see a lot more boat builders going with twins instead of triples.

Can't wait to see one in a haulover video! They will officially arrived then.

Not to turn this into a car thread - but I just sold my 2005 ES330 185k miles, I replaced the alternator around 150k that's the only repair outside of scheduled maintenance and wear items like brakes and tires. We have also had 2 RX's well into the 100k+ miles, not a single repair. I was going to buy a new ES350 - probably will at some point, but my FIL passed away this year and I am driving his 2004 LS430 - again over 100k and it is like new, no repairs outside of maintenance.

I like the German cars (BMW, Mercedes, Audi) used to own a BMW - probably in their better years 1985 325e. It was actually a pretty good car, not much trouble with it, but still a handful at the service counter. You can have the maintenance cost - $3,500 for brakes how do they say that with a straight face? Did you get dinner before or a cuddle after? Only way to drive a German car is to lease it - as Scotty Kilmer says "as they age they become endless money pits".

I think it has to do with the available torque. These are still gasoline engines. Getting to a boat this size is where you'd start to see a lot of diesel engine if it was inboard powered.

All other things equal, the gas engine is going to have less torque and can't swing as big a prop as a diesel engine. I'd guess that has a lot to do with needing 3 engines to get over the hump. I'm not overly familiar with the Verado torque curves though.

My gas powered AJ would wallow a bit before getting out of the hole and on plane. My diesel powered inboard single with a 28" prop just glides right up once the turbo kicks in. It's hard to detect when you actually get on plane because the effect is so smooth from the torquey engine.

...in the test video I think is where you see the marker lights on the back of the swim platform and they are LED and they look expensive.

Has anyone else noticed these “spinning” red LED light fixtures on the port and starboard edges of the swim platform? I’ve noticed them on other newer Brunswick-branded boats in various demo videos but can’t find out who put them there or what they’re for.

Part of me thought this might be the latest in the attempt to warn in-water swimmers of moving props (due to Skyhook)?
