Where would you fit this on the dash?

Thanks. I'm leaning toward the speaker area. This way I won't cut into the boat itself.

How big of a hole? I'm contemplating the same thing or ditching it for a Maretron RIM module.

Except for the fact you cant see it well, I like it at your Rt knee or by the speaker. The issue with the speaker area for me is I'm pulling that insert out to route wires.

Yeah that would have been my second choice, with the caveat that you make the wiring extra long so you can pull that panel far enough out for access. That cavity on my boat is full of all manner of goodies including part of my NMEA backbone.

If I put it by the speaker, I'll do something like this. This way if I take out the cavity it's easy. I also have goodies back there like NMEA backbone.

Any concern with interference from the speaker? That's likely a sizeable magnet on the backside. Perhaps give it a test run before cutting a hole, make sure nothing wonky is happening.

I was thinking about that. Also the vibration of the speaker in the long run..UGGG

If it's really audible only at this point, what about simply connecting it and leaving it behind the access hatch, with enough cable to pull it out to view if alarm is sounding?

As I mentioned, I have the same issue on my dash. While replacing my Sea Fire remote and cutting the wires out to get to it, I decided to follow your lead and relocate the Sea Ray Systems Monitor panel, and p70Rs autopilot head.

The Autopilot goes where the System Monitor Panel was, and the Systems Monitor panel moves to where a VHF remote speaker was located.

Unfortunately, both are going to need a panel to cover some of the holes that were there previously. The System Monitor unfortunately interfered with the plastic hutch. I didn't want to cut that. I figured if I screwed up, it be impossible to replace.

First up was plate for the Raymarine p70Rs AP. It should bolt over where the Sea Ray Monitor was, much better placement. Plate machined from a 3/4" piece of starboard. Next up, I need to make a plate for the Systems Monitor panel.

I also made up a 3' coax/power extension.

Nice. and yes. The panel is smaller than the holes in the dash. I called Technografic again and had a custom panel made up. Should be here in a couple days. I made a custom one for the VHF also. Should look nice. The Merc monitor would not fit where yours did. It looks good there though.

Finished up the rearrangement...New Sea Fire Remote (all systems working), p70Rs Autopilot head at my fingertips, and the Sea Ray Systems Monitor moved to about my right knee.
