Does anyone here own the dewalt 20v max xr cordless brushless rotary buffer tool?
Curious on a review from a boaters perspective. Also battery life when compounding and polishing a boat.
 
Don't have the Dewalt cordless but I do have the Milwaukee M18 Buffer and it works really well. It can be loaded heavily and still works great. I brought my charger down to marina with me and charged up 2 9ah battery at least 2 times each always fully charged before next battery ran out. These don't have the power like my Dewalt DWP849X but there is less worry for burning.

so how long did each battery last?
 
Didnt really monitor time, they do last quite awhile. I can wheel my F150 on one 5ah battery if that helps. you have alot more boat then i do so i would assume 6 fully charged batteries would do your boat, if they were 9ah or bigger.
 
I bought one last fall to detail my boat. Fairly light weight and easy to use. I love the cordless feature. Working with a corded buffer was always a pita. I would have to check on the size of batteries I am using but they are the larger amp hour ones. When a battery would die, I would throw it in the charger and by the time the other battery ran out it was ready to go.

I don't have the Dewalt buffer quite yet, but my wife says I'm addicted to their tools so maybe I'll be picking one up.:) For my grinder I have found the big Flexvolt 20v/60v 12AH battery makes the tool heavy compared to their standard 20v offerings, but I can use it all day. My string trimmer with just the standard 20v 4AH battery will only run for 20 minutes or so, whereas the big Flexvolt goes well over an hour (actually, I have never run it down to zero). For your buffer, I would go with the 20v 6AH or 8AH battery, for light weight and power. I believe the 6AH is about $135 and the 8AH is $180. You could try the Flexvolt with a buffer, but consider the weight and the price at $270 or so.
