So you got yourself COVID vaccine. Think you can’t get COVID? Think again.

I am not a masker, however i have had the first shot.
all the positive numbers we see are in my opinion BS. My guess if they tested everyone to see who has been infected the numbers would be 5-10 fold what is reported. Seems we maybe on the down hill slope.

While I cannot wait for this madness to end, almost 510,000 Americans have died and over 21,000 Canadians. That is very different from every other modern age disease we have been vaccinated against. Lets get as many people vaccinated as we can as a first step. I can't wait to stop wearing a mask, but I will do it while there are significant amounts of people still at risk.

But it is GREAT to see the numbers of new cases dropping in most places. I don't think that lock downs are the ONLY reason, but I think it is a major reason. Here is Ontario's new case history. At the start of the red arrow was when our new stay at home order and lock down was issued after our Premier realized that the restrictions were not slowing wave 2 through the winter months. That lock down ended February 18th. If you look at the bottom of the end of the graph you will see that cases immediately started back up. Maybe it is an anomaly, but we shall see.
Death levels are staying at a lower percentage now, which is good. What we don't really know is whether that is because a) the highly vulnerable have been killed off already, or b) the hospital treatment regimen is better now that they have more experience. I expect its a bit of both.

Simcoe Muskoka, where I live, is going back into lockdown Monday.

I saw that. Hotspot for some reason. That outbreak in Barrie that killed half of the residents in that old age facility was scary stuff. It was one of the variants.

Wonder if deaths are down because most of the old sick people who would have normally died have died and the young healthy people just got sick then better. We are in the old group and have missed a year of our life. At our age it is 10% of our remaining life span. I agree with social distancing but not being under almost house arrest to supposably stop something that you get by close encounters. My mother and father lived through the Spanish flu so did my Grandfather who was a doctor. All were young and healthy. My Grandfather died from the 1947 flu when he was old and not as healthy

Florida has the same graph and never did a full lock down.

That sure is Bidens' attitude and Fauci, too.

The rule in Michigan is you are exempt from wearing a mask if you have a medical condition that precludes it.

The SECOND I get the shot I will no longer wear a mask ANYWHERE as I would then have a medical condition (immunity) that precludes its necessity.
Going commando too fast would be a good way to potentially become one of the last to die from covid. The vaccination doesn't confer protection instantaneously. Effectiveness (which is different from efficacy) results from Israel and other areas is starting to be published. The relatively few cases of infection (and even deaths) post-shot seem to happen in the first few days after vaccination, probably because of the same behavior you're thinking about. Protection seems to start kicking in after about a week, gets fairly good after 3-4 weeks, then really good 10 days or so after the second shot.
My wife and I got our first shots about two weeks ago. We got ours from the local health department but also had options at military hospitals and the VA or even work (for DoD) in my case. There are also local pharmacies offering shots independent of the state allotment. My sense is that opportunity is really opening up, but it still requires a degree of proactivity to find what's available and navigate the disparate processes.

Right, but if you're in the 2% that don't take the covid well -- it kinda sucks to be dead. The vaccine helps reduce the issues. If you don't like it, don't fkg take it. But don't shame the people who do.

Now if your issue is the powers that be, never letting out from under our masks, and no re-opening our businesses, and getting us back to a normal life -- I hear ya 100%.

The big unknown is: what is the mortality rate of the vaccine? What if this untested vaccine kills 5% that is over 2 times the risk...

when I got my first shot i requested the one with a micro chip, those gals laughed at me. I said oh no
thats the one I want. they said ok.

Good news is that the mortality rate of the vaccines is zero, at least so far. See https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7008e3.htm#T1_down. Out of 13M vaccinated, there were 113 deaths, mostly in LTCFs but none were attributed to the vaccine.

You probably believed the cigarette companies when they said cigarettes' were safe. Come on? The government is a partner not a neutral party to this...

I think folks want this over and are happy to take a drug that has not been tested according to FDA guidelines just to get back to normal, they think. The risk is great that the vaccine will be worse than the virus, particularly since the books have been cooked as to how bad it is and eventually the truth will come out.

What date is the over under for seeing a lawyer on TV saying:

Have you or a loved one been injured by taking the vaccine?

Come on yourself. Each of the U.S.-approved vaccines went through the full FDC testing and approval process and were also evaluated separately by an independent body? What part of the FDA or VRBPAC analysis do you disagree with? It's all available online.
Forget the U.S. for a minute. Dozens of other countries across the world have approved vaccines, each using its own separate process. Testing started in some cases almost a year ago to demonstrate safety and efficacy. Since late November, hundreds of millions of doses have been administered worldwide to date and all the ongoing analysis has been favorable with respect to safety, at least to date. I suppose it's possible we who have been vaccinated so far will end up zombies but as time goes on there is less and less chance of that.
BTW, if injury does occur, no need to sue thanks to the Vaccine Injury Compensation Fund.

Do you realize these were "fast tracked" and did not go through the full clinical trials? That the US government has given the manufacturers immunity from liability so if it kills people we the taxpayers are on the hook...

I have a buddy that participated in the clinical trials for the vaccine. He started in August of last year.
And yes he now knows he received the real shot. He has been already been back 2/3 times I think for follow up clinicals. He actually tested positive for covid last time there and retested negative a couple days later. He lives in St Louis and said he was amazed at all the test they ran on him.
Personally i feel safe taking it, if you don't Mike thats fine by me. I am not a masker , never will be.
But I did request the shot with the chip where they could track me. They all laughed.
We need to thank DT for the motivation of the FDA, hell they take 2-3 years for approval of anything.

I think now that vaccines will now be the next political badge of honor and virtue signaling. And I don't mean by getting it. I mean by those that want to stand up proud and say they are not getting it.

I did hear DJT say in his speech at CPAC that people should get vaccinated, in case some missed that.
