I am replacing my anchor line, 25’ of chain, and going with all chain. 5/16” chain weighs approximately 1lb per ft. I am questioning how many pounds of chain will my locker hold? I am considering 150’ of chain and I typically anchor in 20’ or less. 2003 380DA
Thanks

I have 170' in my 310 locker... actually help to plane quicker!

I have 200 in my 2000 380 DA. It doesn’t hurt to have extra, good ballast up front to weigh bow down

I have 125’ chain and 200’ of line on my 360. As Mario said, anchoring is so much easier with more chain. I also typically only anchor in 20’ to 30’ but wish I went with more chain for the ballast as Chris and Jim said.

I have 200' of 5/16" chain in my locker. If you're somewhat picky about things you may notice the nose of your boat will sit a little lower after install. I noticed my scum line crept up ever so slightly. I bet she's 1/2" lower in the front...maybe.

And hey - for those busy days out on Lake Michigan you may want to start thinking about a bridal. All chain is a bit harder on the windlass than having 5/8" line with some "give" in it...

That is a great idea, thanks for the tip.

For all of you guys with chain and rope anchor line, is there a cleat or tie off in your anchor locker for the end of the rode to be fastened to the boat? On my 330 there is not. So if for some reason I am in water that exceeds my 175 chain plus 200 ft of 5/8 line, and I deploy it all, the whole thing is headed to the bottom. Its on my list to add some form of stainless eye down there.

Yes, mine has a tie point in the locker.

Friend took out a guest to fish, gets to spot, guest says how much line to let out for anchor, friend says let it all out so the guest threw all the line and anchor over. It wasn’t tied in locker. Be careful what ya say to non boater.

Are you sure your connection isn't buried under your anchor rode?
