I picked up a 1998 290 sundancer that sat for 7 years on land for 10,000 in 2019. I spent roughly $3,000 and about 200 hours to get her back to being beautiful. So I Put it in the water and first day a guy walks up to me at my dock and offers me $35,000 for it. Im like WTF. Looked at the wife and she says to me " no way we can go without a boat till you find a new one". I agreed and just smiled. I cant imagine what i could get now, Skyes the limit but still cant do it.
Dam. You stole it. I paid 10k for a 91 250 with 450 actual hours. and new cabin upholstery/ headliner. Put in new manifolds, risers, other misc, and I thought I did good.

Yeah, thought i should catch a charge on this one for theft. Was on e bay in staten island. Been looking for awhile for a project boat since i already have a 1988 s24 sorrento. Day aftet he put it on e bay for bid with a starting price of $10,000 i called and drove to see it. Super nice guy and said it was out of the water for 7 years due to a illness his wife had. Boat had 200 hrs on each motor and 100 hrs on genny. Thing was a filthy mess and he would not even let me run it due to him saying it was winterized. Soo rolled the dice with cash in hand and snagged it. Spent about 200 hours cleaning and getting all things to work, ie new fuel injectors, full tune up, hot water heater, drives serviced etcetera. Me and the admiral had fun fixing it up and spend tons of time on it. She already wants something bigger but told her to slow her roll. Wait till after all the people who bought boats during covid to figure out how expensive they are to run and the time you have to put into them to really enjoy them. Then ill snag another bigger one cheap

Thanks guys. Gonna bring it the ICW about 150 miles next weekend (Carolina Beach, NC to New Bern, NC) will start a thread and post some pics.

Started the buying process 2 months ago and finding a surveyor and mechanics was not easy....everybody is booked out for weeks.
I have a feeling you could do that trip in less than a day!!

Yea bought my boat 5 years ago. I could probably get what I paid for it today.

Say Hello to this boats new owner

If I list a clean mid 1990s or newer boat, especially Sea Ray, it will be under contract within a day or less.

I recently listed a 1999 370 Sundancer which is absolutely pristine, we put it under contract within a few days of listing for full asking price and recieve no less than 100 calls or emails every week.

The boat market is beyond crazy. My slip neighbor just sold his '02 260 Sundancer for $35k!!! The boat needs a thorough cleaning and freshening (looks a little raggedy) and it only has a 5.0L running a not in great shape Bravo 3. He sold it in two days w/over 50 calls!!! In 2019 he would have been lucky to get $18k.
I bought my '94 270 Sundancer (7.4L/Bravo 2) in the fall of 2018 for $13,000. If you ask me, I think my boat looks better and it's definitely faster. I'm thinking $25k would be current market for the boat. However, I wouldn't sell it for twice the price. I need boat time more than I need the money!

Yep, that's what I am seeing. Over priced and sold before the ink drys. Gotta be the top. Hoping after July 4, we get some sanity back.

Yup..and next year pick up a boat cheap after all these corona half wits who boaught boats figure out how much work they are

Who knows.. things may come down after July 4th but talking to a couple dealerships, essentially the majority of the inventory for new builds is sold out for 2021 and 2022. Thus the used market may stay somewhat strong for a couple years.

We took the leap during crazy boat prices by selling our 1994 Maxum 2700scr big block for $25K and were lucky to find a 1996 330DA w/ trailer for $40K and we jumped on it 30 min after seeing it on the trailer.

We pulled the trigger and sold our Neptunus, prices are way up. Had multiple offers within a week or two. I am hearing the same thing, that the market looks to stay strong this summer for sure, possibly into 2022. But, it will swing back, it always does.

I have a friend who is looking to buy and is experiencing the present inflated market. He is looking for a 42’-48’ sedan bridge. This clean, 2001 48 DB just came up for sale locally. It looks like a nice boat, but the list price at $339k is probably 80 to 100k (my guess) more than it would have been a year ago.

I am seeing a lot of "covid" sellers thinking they can hit the jackpot. However, I do see those boats sit for awhile. My guess is those are guys who would sell if some sucker paid their price, but otherwise will continue to enjoy their boat.
