Official 380 Thread

Thanks to @Haden for the recommendation on the AquaTech compound and high gloss wax. That along with collinite paste wax brought the shine back.

In addition, I ground out all of the exhaust stress cracks which have been there for years and repaired with spectrum gel coat kit. I also got rid of the gold stripes for charcoal, replaced exhaust vent and painted the vent screws white and finally bottom paint with SeaHawk.

Getting ready to splash Thursday. I will post up pics when I get the Interior back together. Next off season year will attack the cabin with a new fridge and adopt, Chris's idea and paint the brass flat black!

Here are pics of the progress!

Pics of the Exhaust ports before and after the Repair.

Looks great!

2000 Dancer here. I am replacing the cockpit sink and faucet with stainless replacements this weekend. For you guys that have, did you just pry the old white sink out carefully? What did you use to seal the new sink? I’ve been reading a ton on this forum and am learning a ton from you guys. Thanks! Here’s my list of soon to be done upgrades:

New blackstar dust instrument panels from sea-rayparts.com and blue LED backlighting.

Install cockpit tv

Install new cabin tv about fridge

New LED replacement fixtures and lights in the cabin. New LEDs on radar arch.

Already switched canvas and polycarbonate front glass to black

Ordered new grey flooring for the cockpit and grey/black Seadek for the swim platform

New upholstery coming next month.

the list keeps going. I purchased my boat last July and had the stripes removed topside along with a buff/wax and new bottom job. Slowly trying to bring her up to date with some new styling. Thanks again for all the advise and tips on here!

I would say be extremely careful. I broke the center of the old (plastic)sink out. Then worked it from center to the outer edge. It was cold, so that may of been part pf my issue

the caulk they used will/could pull some of the counter gel coat up, minimize as much as you can, i had to patch a couple small spots....

Thank you, Sir. I guess just spray around the edges of the sink and let it soak for a while before removal?

Any recommendations for what sealant to use for securing the new sink?
i would spray from under the sink, there should be a little room around the edge...

I used 3M 4200 and set 2 cases of oil on it to keep it tight, and i let it sit there for a couple weeks, just to make sure it was cured completely

Thank Man. I got a lot of info from reading your posts the last few weeks. Ordered the same LED lights you did for the cabin. Should be here next week!

Also, has anyone replaced their cockpit table with something wooden? I am not interested in spending $2k to have some of the custom made teak companies build one. I am lookin online and thinking about building one as well. Honestly, I think the stock plastic one is a little too big for what we need. I also want to have some cup holders built in. I found this online for about around $250 for the top alone and around $400 for the top with a new pedestal. It might even be too small at 24" x 16" but I think it looks good. Once we replace the upholstery next month, I'll want to update the table for sure.

It may be a little small, but it looks really nice IMO

I ran the wires to power the 12V DC to the fridge from the panel in the center forward area of the engine room. Make sure you use a source that is on the house side of the panel. I used a fuse close to the panel

I installed a lighted switch by the fridge so I could see that the DC was on as there are slits in the cover that you can see through.

If I ever wanted to conserve battery power I could turn off the fridge and let my beer get warm...sniff.

I'm installing my cockpit fridge in a few weeks, I have the number 10 cable and the breaker. Which side is the house side? (I have a 2000 DA as well). How did you determine this?

Thanks!

There is 3 banks. I believe One is for the genny, one does port and engine gauges and a small portion of house, the other does starboard and the majority of the house. The salon fridge (12v) should be on the starboard relay. I put the cockpit fridge on the starboard bank also, so that I would not kill the port and starboard in a long weekend if I didn’t run the genny (or it wouldn’t start) only one bank would be low, and I could start the port and hopefully use the Emergency start switch to get the starboard engine running....

The panel in the engine room is the same location I used. Turn 120 volt power off and see what relay controls your fridge in the salon. Then depending on what location you want, you can connect the breaker to the relay, bank you want. Should be pretty straight forward, I believe the panel is clearly marked in the engine room. I will be on my boat Saturday if you have any questions

Okay so a little update on my upgrade and a few things that I learned and a question for those that installed the Mercury Gateway. Also, if anyone needs help, let me know, I spent a week doing all of this and learned a lot.

If you are running multiple displays and want the radar to display on both you will need a switch.

So what have I got done.
  • Installed a Seatalk NG network and ran backbone cable to engine room including new 5 way.
  • Replaced the autopilot course computer and fluxgate with the evolution 150 core kit.
  • Installed Digital HD Color Open array and the VCM100 power converter and ran new cable through arch.
  • Installed a RayNet Switch for the two Axioms and the Radar
  • Installed I50 Tridata which is compatible with the old sensors.
  • Installed new Raymarine VHF53
  • Installed Axiom 7 into dash panel had to order flush mount covers
  • Got new dash panels and new engine rocker switches
  • Installed the Mercury Gateway.

Next uWaiting for the 12" Axiom Plus for the main MFD area and will have to do some cutting out there. I also have the new cherry panel.
  • Install the P70r and the new radio panel.

Question for the community? Does anyone know how to get the Engine Temp data on the Axiom from the Merc Gateway? I can see the temp on vessel view mobile but it will not show on the Axiom. I called both Mercury and Raymarine Tech support and both clueless on the set up. I am thinking PGN's need to be modified somewhere.

Finally, I decided to replace all of the vinyl in the cockpit and have it all out besides the captain chair so that will be my final 2020 upgrade lol.

Can you tell me where you found the fluxgate? I'm in the process of installing the Evolution 150. Where did you mount the EV1? I believe the existing pump is compatible and I'm planning on leaving it for now. What did you do?

Here is the lamps (bulbs)

YITAMOTOR 10x Blue T10 194 LED... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NQ4Y14Q?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Here is the base. I think the factory lamps were different, about 1/2 mine needed these
TOMALL T10 194 168 Socket for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FLZBV5J?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

at least what I used....

Finishing major electronics and upgrades. I think I'm going to go with red and red for the new dash as well. This was an awesome find, thank you.

That's great, very helpful. I'll be at the boat this weekend as well and will likely be tackling this. I appreciate the nice write up. It's a new boat to us and there is a lot to learn.

No problem, so many people have helped me on here, glad to share what they taught me. I will be at my boat mid day if you have any questions, ask away, I can take pics where my breaker is

Yep I took a hole saw and drilled out the center with my biggest and than took a hack saw blade and split the sink, after that it was easy to remove. I did have to gel coat one of the edges!

Looks like on mine, it was replaced and wired directly to the Starboard bank with an inline fuse. It works just fine.

The Fluxgate is under the dashboard and I just left it there, I installed the EV1 in the engine room forward bulkhead wall as it needs to be on a flush level flat surface I thought about mounting marine board under the dash in an open cavity but was already running cables for the engine room cameras, I ran a 30ft seatalkNG cable through the conduit on the side, I installed the MC vessel view in the same location. Ill snap a pic next time I go out to the boat. Yes the existing pump and all of the wiring including the rudder position are compatible with the EV150 core kit so you do not need to replace the pump or another other wiring.
