Those that have upgraded their swim platforms, who did you use?

I ordered one before Christmas and it still hasn't shipped yet and they tell me another month, which is what they told me last month. I am considering canceling this and just re-gel coating my old one and move on. I was really looking forward to a new platform but this aggravation might not be worth it. I used https://swimplatforms.com/ as they were talked about highly both on here and other forums. If their the best, I am not impressed with any of my dealings with them so far. Just absurd how long this is taking when they told me 6 weeks at most.

In defense of them, manufacturing is a real chit show right now. Trying to get materials, people and equipment all lined up is a challenge.

As for the swim platform, can you just cover it with the foam flooring that's popular right now?

I am not disagreeing... but wtf?.... I am getting tired of Covid being an excuse....if I am ordering anything for work or home and they say might be delayed because of covid ...I move on
My Mfg company has never shut down thru covid and I have never missed a ship date and we outsource a lot

You’re lucky then. It takes days for trucks to even come pick our stuff up. Steel lead times are months not weeks. Etc. Etc.

Agree, I work for a Class 1 railroad with 3 letters in the name and we shipping huge. There is no COVID delay, far as shipping concerned. Maybe, just maybe, they are backlogged from being shut down most of 2020, but it’s not us.

Lots of issues out there for sure. My raw high speed steel comes from China. When covid hit I ordered a years worth and then gave a po for this year for a years worth. If you sat there and hoped then you are going to get screwed ..... I am just saying you needed to think out of the box a bit with this shit show

Yeah thats what I would have thought. But their not blaming covid or lack of personnel, just very busy according to them. I got the impression that the smaller jobs are taking president over mine as they have a much larger platform to make or they screwed up on there first attempt and now I am paying for it in time. They make everything there on site so they can't use the supply chain as an excuse as this is all they do. So to your point @Blueone I would think they have enough supply to make platforms. Just can't believe how long it is taking.

I have tought about re-spraying the edges and putting pasteak down on the rest but It's also not the wide and the new one was going to be large enough to put a couple of chairs on.

Hold out.... a few weeks is short compared to a few years wishing you could put a couple of chairs out there

It just erks me so to have to wait for so long when I ordered it before xmas and then they were promising February.

I’ve had a hydraulic step on order for my boat since January. I expected some
lead time because it’s a custom order. But it keeps getting delayed. They are saying the issue is their suppliers due to Covid, particularly the hydraulic actuators. It was delayed - few weeks to the end of March, and just recent again to the end of April. Frustrating.

As others have mentioned about delays, right now “resins” are tough to get ahold of. During the TX freeze it shut down some major resin plants that run 24/7 x 7. Plants that run like that & then are shut down for a week create a serious backlog. They’re still in the process of fulfilling back orders. All of my manufacturers I deal with in the broadband industry are back ordered on materials because of this compounding on top of other things. Also, as a result, resin prices have gone up, significantly! I know it sux but I’d be patient. You may end up paying more for the same product if you cancel and reorder. SP.com does a great job, they’re just caught up in the same mess as the rest of us.

Well that sux on two fronts, one that you have to wait so long and the other is my wife just talked me into re-finishing the platform we have and ordering the same steps and be done.

To your point @OllieC , I wasn't thinking about the resins, THAT is probably the reason it is taking so long. Man ...

I also ordered from swimplatforms.com before Christmas but did indeed receive my platform late February. As I'm in Michigan I wasn't really in a big hurry, I just wanted to beat the spring rush.

From what I've seen the quality is excellent. It's not on my boat bet but it looks great still sitting in my garage. :)

Have patience, @SKybolt I think it'll be worth the wait.

Dude, boats are in the water. Get that thing mounted already. :)

Ohhhh man I know. I will launch my boat in a week or two only to have it removed from the water a week or two later to have the platform installed. I winter-store at a marina that has no services. Since I decided not to DIY install this thing I will need to get it into my slip before the pro's can do the install for me.

Nothing quite like scheduling a haul out WHILE you're still on the hard, just in the wrong location :)

So I sent an email yesterday requesting them to cancel my order, since five months should be long enough to get one built. They responded today with "We're prepping your mold now to build this week" .

I guess the squeaky wheel does get oiled in this case.

Yesterday I was talking about product lead times to the guy that installed a waterfall and water slide on my pool. He said lead times for the fiberglass pool slides he orders have gone way up, and price quotes from the vendor are only good for a few days.

His recent customer was contemplating a 30 foot slide and took a week to decide. In that time the price went up by $1500. Apparently it's due to the volatile price and availability of resins.

When I called back to actually pay for the platform, they gave me $500 off of the quoted price for having to wait for so long. Very nice of them to have done that. It does pay to be nice when dealing with people.

I own a Logistics Company and we have been slammed. Shipping customers products around the world has been a bit demanding but were getting it done.

For those of you who ordered new swim platforms, can you give me a rough idea on cost.

The platform on my 330EC (13.5’ Beam) has rotten sections of the core. I’m debating a rebuild next winter vs replacement sometime later this year.

PM if you prefer.

thanks much.
