Looking for your thoughts on this.

Would you put your inverter in your engine room. KEEP IN MIND I HAVE DIESELS!

I wouldn't even think about doing it on a gasser.

Right now my inverter is under one of the cockpit seats and from time to time it gets wet I would also like to gain that storage back. I feel I could put it there and away from moisture.

you are correct very few "marine" ignition protected inverters exist.

You biggest issue would be heat, when working hard inverters need air flow, the engine room will be a hotter location for the most part.
But with some good airflow, perhaps directing the inbound air from blowers at it.

That is one of the issue I have with it now. It is under a seat in tight space with no air flow.

Interestingly I have been struggling with the same issues. My 300 never had a generator. This does mean the engine room is nice and open. But I'm gasser.
A new generator is just out of the question cost wise. And I toyed with idea a used generator but then you never know what you'll really get. And for the same cost I can go with all new Lithium LifePo4 batteries and a 5-6kw inverter/charger. But where to put it?

I'll have to start a thread on it when I pull the trigger.
I finally narrowed down a space in the aft cabin, that I can put a little creative duct work in to exhaust the heat outside. The batteries will be nearby in the engine room. But those shouldn't get to hot either. So again some creative venting and an insulated aluminum battery box to keep it cooler. And finally how do you charge it other than dockside? Solar is out, not putting panels all over the deck. I found a 3000 watt Permanent Magnet Alternator (brush-less and no electronics so ignition safe) it will run off port main when cruising or if needed. It will feed an MPPT charger next to the Inverter.

I believe that your 460DA hull and my 450EB are basically the same. So you should have V drives and a snug engine room at the stern of your boat. Is your charger on the forward wall of your engine room? I swapped out the original Sea Ray installed Promatic 50-3 charger and installed this Victron Multiplus Inverter/Charger and I have had no issues with heat. Victron also has a nice monitor that I installed on my panel and they even have an app for your phone.

I currently have
Xantrex Freedom Sw3012 12v 3000w Inverter/Charger.
I talked to the guys at Battle Born today and they are looking at if there batteries will work well with the Xantrex set up I have.

How many of their batteries of there's are you using and what are you running with the inverter?

I do like your set up.

I have 6 of their batteries in place of the original two house batteries. I set up the inverter to run all of my port systems. On the panel we added a breaker that we labeled "Hotel Mode" that powers the TV and systems on the port side of the boat with the inverter. For the heavy duty loads like the AC and the hot water heater etc, I will still use the generator. I probably could have included the starboard systems, but we decided to keep it simple. We tested it out a few weeks ago when we were on the hook in Newport. My recent college graduate twin boys decided they wanted to watch the March Madness tournament in the salon while Mom, Dad and friends listened to the stereo outside and drank champagne. Eight hours later the batteries were still over 13 volts and we never needed the generator.

So these are your starting batteries too?

My Xantrex 3000 Inverter is mounted on the port wall in my E.R., 4 6volt golf cart batteries are 2 feet away in between the two engines. I bought the boat with this set-up that the P.O. had installed and it's still going strong after 14 yrs

Yes. I do have one agm battery that is technically in the system located to the aft of the starboard side engine, primarily to start the generator but it can be used in “emergency” start mode.
