Official 370 Sundancer thread

Has anyone replaced the bug screens on the portholes? Mine were tattered as hell and I was tired of looking at it so i just cut them out.

The admiral found a stowaway spider inside the cabin and refuses to board until i deal with it. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! It just might save my marriage...

Cheers.

I replaced mine a few years ago.

Look back to post 2826 and the Dropbox pics I posted. At least in the salon, the headliner panels are held up with small brackets.
My moisture was from the handrail stanchion on the port side, next to the water fill. Pulling the speaker and the headliner over the shelf if the vee berth gave me plenty of access to the base.
Search back a bit and you’ll find pics of that removal.

I’ll bet you can’t find one 370 that doesn’t have some moisture in the engine room bulkhead. It is not structural. It does have a million holes in it from mounting battery chargers, fire extinguishers, wire looms and so on.

Do you still have pics of how to remove ceiling panels, you mentioned brackets, where are those? I need removal ceiling panels in front bedroom to access nuts for bow grab rails that run along hatches. You would think there would be something on YouTube or something? I have not tried to remove mine yet, one friend said they may snap on or velcro?

I have not pulled the Vee Berth panels, only the one over the galley that has the speaker and a couple of lights on it.
I have accessed the outer stanchion bolts for the bow railing by removing the small panel over the porthole.
However, I suspect that the entire ceiling is held up with L brackets similar to what I saw in the salon.

Damn that turned out nice!

Thanks! Photos really dont do it justice. I am blown away how much it changes the feel of my cockpit.

If you have spare time its really not too hard to do and cost me about 40$ in wrap.

Happy to give anyone tips.

Any of you guys have pics of unique ways to re-frame your camper canvas on the back? Mine is ready for replacement and been thinking about a new frame that reduces some of the support framing on the sides. Seems all that bracing is just meant so you can lay back the top. Which I’ve never done. just curious about options...

Tell me about how you finished the outer edges of the panel. I did mine in a woodgrain, but left it wrapping over the edge to the back. Had to cut a lot of stripes so the vinyl could follow the contours. You seem to have trimmed to the top edge of the panel.

Has anyone else become sick of the salon bench slide out design? Mine has come off the roller tracks and is a complete pain. I am thinking of cutting it down the middle where the two cushions meet and then hinging them to open. This will allow access to an individual storage compartment without pulling both cushions. I would have to get a little creative on the contours when it is folded out, but I think it would be an improvement over the current design...... Thoughts?

It won't be purchased. You will have to get it made by a local marine upholsterer. I see a couple of other things to do first, but I digress... Welcome to the club.

My thought is if you are not using the pull out feature (who has THAT cushion anymore?) to make a bunk for someone who shouldn't be on the boat anyways, then I would remove the sliding piece, install cleats (no, not dock cleats) under the edges of the opening to hold the side edges, and then cut the sliding piece to fit the cavity as a removable compartment cover, or covers.

Definitely interested if you have any tips. I have purchased the same vinyl, but have yet to start the project.

First. Make sure the wrap you get doesnt have any creases in it. The first two rolls i got off amazon were creased and no amount of heat would remove them. You want a nice normal roll.

Its a bit of a time consuming project but not too hard if you take your time and take a bunch of photos and label things as you go.

I started with that little panel to the left of the guages. Its the easiest place to start and once you see how nice it looks wrapped it gives you encouragement to push on.

To do the wrapping itself i didn't use any heat. I find that a nice flat surface doesnt require any. A couple things to note:

Not all wraps are created equal. Spend a bit more to get the anti bubble stuff. It will save you alot of headache. (who wants to go through all this work only to have it bubble down the road as it heats up)

Clean the surface throroughly and make sure its dead flat and free of any burrs or anything that raises up. On mine i had a few raised burrs around a couple of the holes juat sand it flush or use an exacto to trim any excess.

When you do your wrapping do it on a clean surface/table so that if you do have to pull a piece back and re apply it wont pick up any dirt or particles( they will show up in your wrap).

Get a wrapping application squeegy that has either a teflon edge or felt edge. Anything else will most likely scratch the surface and it will show up. (they're cheap on amazon.). Some people say there are liquids too but i didn't bother with that.

When you do your wrap i found it best to clamp one side of whatever i was wrapping securely to the table so i could start my wrap on one side gently pull the backing off as i progressed with my squeege being careful to remove the air pockets. I ended up just wrapping the object and the table itself and then used a sharp exacto to loosely trim the wrap off so i could remove it, then flip it upside-down and run your exacto around the contours inside(guages, switches) and out (outer edge) .

After the small panel to the left of the guages i started with the guages themselves. I dont know if you have removed the guage panel before but its not hard i think there are 6 or 8 screws holding it down and they are easily accessible. Once you have removed them, the guage panel should slide out easily.

Sorry i have to meet my wife for dinner i will finish the rest later tonight or tomorrow!
